I bought this lovely container for my husband's birthday this fall. The place I bought it had theirs set up as a fountain, with the water basically just 'spilling' over the top. Unfortunately, in my excitement to figure out how to load it into the car, I forgot to ask for instructions to properly set it up for the fountain effect. Our plan is to have it set on a bed of stones so the stones will be 'wet' all the time. The vase is about 3.5' tall, 30" diameter, approximate capacity 40 gallons. What I need is specific information about how large a pump to 'lift' this amount of water and where to place the pump - in the bottom of the vase or propped up on a 'shelf' closer to the top of vase. Any suggestions?
Fountain set up help needed
If your vase doesn't have a hole in it, you will have to put the pump outside and lift the water over the edge with tubing. You can find the head or lift on the pump packaging. Harbour Freight carries a submersible mini pump with a flow frate of 190 gph with a lift of 59" for about $15. I got several when they were on sale for use in overwintering some tropical water lillies. If you want more splash, check their online catalog. Jessamine
Thank you - will check them out.
