Brugmansia artwork

San Jose, CA(Zone 9a)

Thank you all very much for your compliments :-) ...actually it is an un-named pink...I had a name but I seem to have misplaced it! So, I sure wish I knew to tell you!

Margie, that is excellent. Gardener's are often so creative, even the ones who don't think they are. My first brug is a pink no-name and I have kept it about four years. Looks a lot like your pink and I am real partial to it.
We may have started a trend here, I like seeing all the beautiful art being created so be sure to post it. I got so engrossed in playing around with it that before I knew it was 3:00 in the morning. lol

I was going to do something with a contest but instead I removed the copyright watermark on my prints. Anyone who wants to save and print for personal non-commercial use is welcome.

Merry Christmas to you all!

Are you all using a particular program ???? I used photoImpact 8 on mine...

GOD's Green Earth, United States(Zone 8b)

Julie -- I use Digitial Image Pro and mine will do that:

I had a bunch of different flowers that I "watercolored" posted on BGI last winter. It was one of those "boring day" things...

Here's a datura:

I would love to know how to do that. I have a few that I would like to try it on. My printer ink must be out of balance, things aren't looking real good.

San Jose, CA(Zone 9a)

Linda....do you have a photo editing program? If you do, you just go to filters and put on the filter you want to use. We can help you, so let us know...

Gretchen...love your datura with the water drops!

GOD's Green Earth, United States(Zone 8b)

Julie! Shame on you stealing my picture like that LOL! Only kidding, you know that :)

Linda, Margie's right. We're using various photo-editing programs, not the printer. At least I'm not, 'cause mine is out of ink...

Thanks Margie. It really does a nice job with no effort on my part :)

Harlem, GA(Zone 8a)

LOL Gretchen, I'm choking I'm laughing so hard! You're a sweetie! I STILL can't find mine yet, so it wasn't the coffee I needed afterall!!!! LOL 3 cups later, where oh where can it be? I made like 2-3 of them picture's lol...guess my DH will have to find it later when he come's home *sigh* lol

GOD's Green Earth, United States(Zone 8b)

Julie -- are you running XP? If so, go to "start" and then "search". You can narrow your search by choosing just docs that were changed or created today. If you have an older version of windows, you can find it by opening windows and searching for docs that were created or changed today... Hope this helps :) I hate it when I accidently lose a file like this.

Ellicott City, MD(Zone 7a)

All your paintings are simply beautiful! You are so blessed with artistic talent!

Harlem, GA(Zone 8a)

Gretchen, you are truly a sweetheart....I found it, I did it just as you said. Sometime's I draw blanks, well more times than I would prefer these days lololol...

Anyhow, here is one I did that I found lol...now gotta find the datura lol

Thanks!

Those are beautiful, Julie! Glad you found them for us!!! Isn't it interesting how each program perceives a "watercolor"? My old Ulead program has multiple "paint" types and styles, Digital Image only has a couple.

San Jose, CA(Zone 9a)

I went searching for printable canvas....the Office Max did not have it, so I began searching on google. I came across a site with many different kinds.

http://www.mcgpaper.com/canvas.html

Anyone know the best one to get? Also saw watercoour paper for the printer. Has anyone tried that ?

Thanks, Margie

Castlegar, BC(Zone 6b)

ooowww Watercolor paper...I'll have to look for that! Thanks for the tip, Margie.

Harlem, GA(Zone 8a)

Thanks so much Gretchen, I use the Ulead PhotoImpact 8 program, those one's I posted were made with the feature 'oil' paint. I like it alot, now I have to master the lettering as beautifully as your's....

I'm going to check into that too Margie and OldFlowerGirl, I think it would be great to have prints of these coming from our own garden's don't you? :)

GOD's Green Earth, United States(Zone 8b)

You're so very welcome, Julie!

The lettering is a snap with that program :)

Watercolor paper sounds cool. LMK if it works well. You can download the Pantone color chart and use it as the default for Windows and your printerr. I'll look for the information and post it.

Ithaca, NY(Zone 5a)

I've been fiddling with garden shots and landscapes for a few years. It's amazing what you can do and it's a lot of fun. If I could afford a poster printer, I'd probably go into business. I'll post a few of my images, though I'm sorry that none of them are brugs.

They lose a little shrunk down to a reasonably downloaded format. But I'll upload a couple more.

You can even do interesting things with landscapes.

Very pretty, eupatorium! Welcome to the Brug forum! What program are you using? Looks much like the effects I can get with MS Digital Image.

San Jose, CA(Zone 9a)

eupa...they are beautiful ! I would love to see more...
By poster printer...do you mean 13" wide or wider? I have a printer that does 13" wide prints...the Epson 1280 that I am very happy with. It is not this years model as I have had it a few years, but it seems like I saw one the other day, with discounts about 299.-399.

Yes Welcome to the Brug Forum eupatorium!!! Your picture's and work is absolutely breath taking. Thank you so much for sharing them with us. I am too interested in the program you use...Oh how pretty!

Tellico Plains, TN(Zone 7b)

I have a Picture of a banana blossom that just takes my breath away. Colors and subject are so perfect to my eyes.

Since a friend sent it to me and since then I have been secretly wishing ( poof! ) I was an artist and could do a 2' x 3' painting for my living room.

I thought of asking at schools for a student who could do it or it could be a class project. Any input on this ?

eupatorium,
.................I never even thought of getting a poster made. Wonder if the colors would come out good?

TIA, Shirley

Ithaca, NY(Zone 5a)

I use PhotoShop. It has lots of artistic effect filters that are fun to play around with.

By poster printer, I mean a printer that prints up to 3 feet wide. I have access to one but I have to pay by the foot. (Many copy centers have them too.) But the standard paper it uses isn't all that good and I'm afraid that the pictures wouldn't last long without fading and losing quality.

To print something that big without it looking pixellated, you have to blow up the picture very large in your graphics program. (Enough that you can print 300 to 600 dots per inch.) Then you do your artistic effect. Helps to have a powerful computer.

Gotta scoot.

Beautiful. I need a lesson on how to do this. I have Paint Shop Pro, but don't know what to do with it. LOL! I've looked at them more than once now Margie, and I still can't decide which one I like the best. They all look great.
