I received the following message from a friend. I know how generous the folks here are so I thought I'd pass it along.
Subject: an opportunity to help
20 November 2004
Dear friends,
I know many of us want to give to charities as the holidays approach. Sometimes it is hard to tell if we made a difference or not with our donations. I have an opportunity for you to help people in need that WILL benefit from your donations. They are the wounded men and women coming here to Landstuhl Regional Medical Center for treatment. Since the siege in Fallujah, the hospital is maxed out and unfortunately, many items donated in the past have run out.
These soldiers come to the hospital with the clothes on their backs (and usually they are ripped or ruined or a hospital gown)...Some are here for days, weeks. Others get shipped to the states for further medical treatment. In the meantime, they need simple items such as the ones I have listed below to help them while they stay here. If you could help, I am positive these items WILL go to good use and would mean alot to these men and women!
The following is a list of items the LRMC Chaplain's Office is accepting right now for the needs of patients coming out of Iraq:
NEW ITEMS (not used):
underwear/boxers - S, M
t-shirts (white only) - M, L, XL
sweat pants - S, M, L, XL
sweat shirt (pullover and zip up) - S, M, L, XL
fleece pullovers and zip ups - all sizes
sneakers - Mens sizes 9.5-15; Women's sizes - any
jackets/coats - any sizes
Slippers
Lightly USED ITEMS:
Jackets/ Coats
Travel Bags, Duffel bags, gym bags, backpacks
Also monetary donations can be made by check to USAREUR Chaplain's Fund. They will use the money and purchase items here at the BX.
Items sent by Military Mail and US Postal can be sent to:
Landstuhl Regional Medical Center
ATTN: MCEUL-CH/Chaplain's Office
CMR 402
APO, AE 09180
Thanks! Jen
