I just got back from the grocery store. I very, very rarely buy a tomato in the winter and tonight was no exception, but I do check out the prices. Cherry Tomatoes: 6.99 lb, Regular Tomatoes, $6.49 lb, hothouse tomatoes...4/pack $6.49, larger hothouse tomatoes, 3/pack $6.49!!!
Not one person had better complain about my tomatoes at $1.50 lb next year.....or even $2.00 lb. I don't even want to hear it. I'm making my sign now, it will read "Tomatoes at a bargain, remember last Thanksgiving?" and I should go back to the market and take a picture of the price signs!
Carrots are $4.00 for 2 lb bag, rotten broccoli was on sale for $1.28 lb...12 ounces of green beans were $3.00, Napa cabbage, $1.59 lb.....and navel oranges were $6.49 for 8 lb bag. I kept saying to my DH..."How do people do it?" "How do they afford to eat from the supermarket?" It's almost going to be cheaper to go to a restaurant and eat all your meals...they cook and clean up too :)
Sorry, shocked shopper here!
Shocking Tomato Prices! eek!!!
