Dirty hands pay off

Corning, OH(Zone 6a)

I had been working in the yard and when I walked onto the front porch I noticed an Eastern Comma 'puddling' on the rim of an empty flower pot. I took some pics. Then I got an idea.
I offered my finger (since I had been out digging in the dirt with my hands).
Well that little Comma stuck out his big ole proboscis and just went to town !

Before I knew it he stepped onto my finger !

I then had the pleasure of taking about 50 pics of him until my camera hand got about numb. He walked all over my hand looking for good spots.

Wow, did you hold your breath the entire time? I would have! I logged on here to post some of my butterfly pics from today. Now I'm blown away by yours. Wow again! Absolutely incredible! Congratulations on such a wonderful treat!

DiOhio .. that 'hand numbing camera holding' - - - I can certainly relate to! .. lol ..
But, wowsers .. how it paid off !! .. hee

How honored you must have felt, when he took to your fingers and mosey'd on up onto it! I'd have surely been a mite bit ecstatic!!!

Geez, that coma really stands out on there too !! ... Very nice pics and a beautiful butterfly!

Julie, it's funny you should say that. I've been to the point of almost passing out because I hold my breath when taking pics and sometimes I forget to breathe !!

I don' know what it was this summer but I've had some really strange experiences with butterflies and moths landing on me or allowing me to get really really close.
Here's one example of a Tawny Emperor, the first time I had ever seen this species in my yard, and as I was walking in the driveway he landed right on my hand !

Thank you both for your nice comments.
Yes, honored and ecstatic to say the least. I think any time a "wild" critter trusts you enough to get this close is a special treat.

You've definitely got the magic touch and the animals know they can trust you. Amazing! :-)

Di:
The third shot you posted of the "Eastern Comma" makes me think of a vintage velvet opera cloak -- that only exists in my dreams!

Great depth and focus! Really captured the texture esp. on the back wings.

Great pics! You must taste good! All I can get to land on me are mosquitoes!
