Please pray for my husband today!

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

I think I may have to kill him. We are putting up the hoophouse and have to move over 100 brugs. I came in to call my mother for her 86th birthday and looked out the window at him. He is swinging them around like rag dolls with such delight. One of us will be dead by the end of the day!

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

I'm sorry Kell, but this has been the best laugh I've had all day!!! I can even visualize Tom tossing those babies around like rag mops. LOL!! Maybe you better warn your mom so she won't be shocked when she gets the news. . . . . .

Mifflintown, PA(Zone 6a)

Take it easy on him.. too close christmas for that kind of action. You might have as wonderful present coming.

Houston, TX(Zone 9b)

I feel you pain, Kell. My Fred has no care or concern whatsoever when it comes to my plants. I am forever walking out in the garden and finding a plant that he's knocked over and not bothered to stand back up, or a pot he's broken and not bothered to tell me so I can repot the plant, or a plant he's broken some how and not bothered to tell me. Drives me insane sometimes!!!

I'm with the others, though - if he's a good gift-giver, wait until after Christmas! ;)

Greensburg, IN(Zone 6a)

KELL YOUR PRICELESS, reminds me of my husband, when he used to cut grass no matter what was in his way it was cut down, even my prized shrub with the beautifull Blue blooms that I had been taking such good care of

Brookeville, MD(Zone 7a)

Something about men and mowing.... hmmm..

Ellicott City, MD(Zone 7a)

OH NO! I can visualize the headlines now....."Wife Kills Husband Over Moving Her Brugs".....stay tuned for further details! :~)

Northeast, WA(Zone 5a)

Sprinkler heads!!! Jeanette

Angleton, TX(Zone 9a)

LOL.......and I cannot help it because I can visualize it all and I also know how he feels about your brugs.

Eureka, CA

Oh Kell such a familiar tune-like the time my hubby mowed off all my freshly planted blueberry plants-didn't even notice them and they weren't part of the lawn.

Herbstein, Germany(Zone 5a)

A few pictures of it would have been a delight to see Poor Tom! I am going to say a little prayer for him LOL!

Sand Springs, OK(Zone 7a)

Praying for DH I hope he has a food taster to ck. his food till you regain your composure .There all alike men uumph !
LOL

Medford, NJ(Zone 6b)

Yes, I will bow my head for Tom also. My dear husband did the same thing today. However, he knocked several pods off. Everything is STUFFED into corners of the garage. I can't tell where one plants starts and the other ends. GRRRRRR

Cedar Key, FL(Zone 9a)

Hey
Ya got your hubbys to HELP
There's progress there......!!!!!

Castlegar, BC(Zone 6b)

Can you say "Weed Wacker"! I have lost a few precious blooms to my husband's wild and careless maneuvering of this lawn edging device. The best excuse he can ever come up with is ..." I tripped "...yeah right!

GOD's Green Earth, United States(Zone 8b)

Bless you all! I don't even dare ask my DH for help with gardening or yard work. If I break something, I have only myself to blame. He just really has no regard.....................I don't know what I'll do if I ever am not strong enough to do it all myself.

Oh, and happy birthday to your sweet Mama, Kell!

Lima, OH(Zone 5a)

I sympathize with you Kell. I went through it couple weeks back, BUT they do carry all that "heavy" stuff, so what can we say? They are only plants, they will grow blooms again. Oh, and I have had a few things mowed and weed whacked here, but I can't run them so whatever happens, happens.

Lima, OH(Zone 5a)

Happy BD to mom.

Grass Lake, MI(Zone 5a)

This is too funny Kell. I'll pray for Tom ..... poor guy puts his life on the line just about everytime he touches them ... but he keeps coming back for more!! Guess you had better keep him around!!!

Kannapolis, NC(Zone 7b)

LOL I don't know whether to say "poor Tom" or "poor Kell. OR MAYBE I SHOULD SAY "POOR BRUGS" Good luck!!

Gretchen, I'm with you. My DH never touches a plant or offers to help move one no matter how big it is. We'd better move closer together so when we get to the point we can't move them ourselves, we can at least help each other.LOL

PNW, WA(Zone 8a)

You all need what I have, a 15 year old! They are far easier to manuver than an adult specimen and fear keeps them from breaking much. Also manuvering can usually be done with the promise of a candy bar and a coke.

Robin

Lima, OH(Zone 5a)

You are so funny! How about a 24 yr. old can I safely ask him?

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

I have let Tom live until tomorrow. We had a sushi date tonight and he did not finish the hoophouse, so he lucks out. No blood today! However, if he does not shape up by tomorrow he is a goner.

Robinz, my boy child is even worse. He had the nerve to tell me that less is more. Last time he was home he said he would get rid off at least 50% of my plants first day. I have not let him back in the garden since!

Thanks for the birthday greetings for my Mom. We didn't think we were going to see this birthday. My boy will be seeing her next week and she is so thrilled!

PNW, WA(Zone 8a)

Hibiscus-

I'd wager it would take more than a candy bar and a coke though to get him manuvered. :) I don't have much experience with one that old but usually if they still fear the look you should be able to get something done :)

Robin

Vancleave, MS(Zone 8b)

and how many years have you been going through this with you hubby???? ROFL!!! Happy Birthday to your Mom. I know this is a very special for for all of you. So nice of your son to be going to see his grandma at his age. They must be very close. Most teenage sons don't go visit their grandma on their own. You raised a mighty fine young man Kell.

Northeast, WA(Zone 5a)

Kell, you have one smart son there. What a way to get out of work!!!! I wonder if that is the same thing that is going through the brains of these men we all are talking about???? If they ruin enough things we will not ask again???

Do you suppose? Are we dumb??? Jeanette

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

LOL Jeanette. I am so dumb, I freely admit it! I have 1 kid and he runs circles around me! Always has.

He is no longer a teenager, 22 years old! He is in law school in NY and thinks he is all that. But my Mother just loves him so, he was my father's favorite! My Mom is in NJ. We are in California! This week he finally is freezing his tush and wondering out loud how he could have thought NY would be so much fun! LOL the boy needs a butt warmer!

Vancleave, MS(Zone 8b)

Kell they have those pocket warmer. You light and stick thing and put it in and close it. He could put one in each back pocket of his pants. They also have battery operated electric socks LOL. They work great too

Northeast, WA(Zone 5a)

btw, What Robinz is absolutely right. She is my daughter and she has my 15 year old grandson out there doing the heavy work. Maybe she has decided that she is going to raise some lucky woman a good husband. She also has him cooking.

Jeanette

PNW, WA(Zone 8a)

Um...mom, I don't think cooking pizza and top roman really qualify as cooking. :)

Robin

Northeast, WA(Zone 5a)

DonnaB, I've tried those electric socks and about electrocuted myself. They are little fine wires in the socks and if they come through the loosly knit socks they burn. You really get a hot foot.

Maybe that was what was wrong with Tom. Is that what you did Kell? Wanted to keep him moving?

That is funny about your son. Didn't he know how cold it gets there? Bet you see him home in sunny Cal for the holidays.

And Rob, pizza and top ramen works. I have heard that is what all the college kids eat. Maybe he is practicing.

Jeanette

PNW, WA(Zone 8a)

That's exactly what he says. when he goes to college he will be able to feed himself if he can make TopRoman and Pizza. Great minds.

Robin

San Jose, CA(Zone 9b)

Ok, Kell...focus - just remember that you will need him to get them OUT of the hoop house in the spring! Good luck!

Greensburg, IN(Zone 6a)

KELL, Happy birthday to your Mom, and go see her if you possibly can, but take hubby with you so he doesn't do something reckless while your gone.

Doris

Des Moines, IA(Zone 5a)

HI Kell:
Maybe Tom is
trying to tell
you something
when it comes
to working
with plants!.

When I was
little my
brother & the
rest of us
kids,
(10 of us)
had to pull
weeds.My older
brother would
pull all of
the weeds &
all of the
plants! So my
dad would kick
him out of the
garden.

All of us
thought he
didn't know
any better but
he was the
smart one
because we had
to pull all of
the weeds.

You don't
think “TOM”
would reather
go watch
football
instead of
helping with
the plants do
YOU.???

ALL men brag
how they rule
the roost at
there house,
But the wife
will tell you
“THEY” rule
the rooster...

San Antonio, TX(Zone 9a)

Kell, give your mom a very Happy Birthday wish from me. I gave up on my DH helping with my plants a long time ago. I griped at him so much for breaking things, stepping on plants, weeding flowers instead of weeds, etc. that he now refuses to do anything in the yard. It took me awhile to figure out that was probably what he was aiming at all along. LOL Of course, I have to admit that he grew up in a ranching family, and flowers were the last thing on their minds. He thinks I'm a little weird about my plants. I can't imagine where he came up with that idea. I guess you should just be thankful Tom helps you, even if he is a little careless along the way. lol

Tulsa, OK(Zone 6b)

Kell, I understand completely, Tony & I went through the same thing a week or two ago! He doesn't help with anything else, but does 'help' me bring the brugs to the basement. He & Tom would get along great, shove them in, who cares about a broken branch here or there. I saw one branch break off on a rather small plant that hasn't even bloomed yet, and grabbed it to mark the name.

'Do you have to save EVERY little piece?'
'Yes, but not all of them will root.'
'Knowing you, all of them will root.'

Lima, OH(Zone 5a)

This is soo........funny! Sure sounds like "home".

Lewiston, CA(Zone 7b)

I guess most of them (DHs) are the same... My DH weed whacked an old (100yr stock) Holly hock plant off clean to the ground twice! (& lived to tell about it, barely) It made it the first time but did not the 2nd time.I threw my watering can at him, he never weedeated in that area again!
I had dug these plants from an old homestead that was being plowed under. The lady that lived there was 70something when I was a kid, she had the lovliest yard. I dug old daffodils & the hollyhocks up before the tractors came in. Now there is no more of her Hollyhock here. I'm not sure if anyone else dug stuff up or not. It wasn't spectacular but it was from her yard & that was special enuf. He is a bit more careful now. I wouldn't let him get 10ft from my Brugs!!!

Deep South Coastal, TX(Zone 10a)

Awwww Poor Tom, bless his heart, he tries(he's just making more room for the ones you'll want to buy in spring, lol)
My hubby is forbidden to buy, spray or even think about using Round-Up ever again!
