Sorry to hear that you still have to go through more tests! Sounds like you will be having a nerve conduction study. That one I haven't had. I had several MRI's & Discograms, which replace Mylograms.
Hope the Dr's can figure out what is going on and you get some relief from the pain.
Happy Thanksgiving!
OK! Dumb Bell Question!!!!!!
Well - I will just consider this a "blessing" because it will stall any type of surgery until after the holidays are over. This pain I can do without, however - I think it is really taking a toll on my family. Either I'm cranky or I'm drugged up and weird, lol! I look in the mirror horrified - pain takes a toll on your face - the lines and bags - EURGH!!!!!!!!! So much for the days when I looked younger than I was.
Karrie, you are right, pain ages a person. But once you find at least a little relife it reverses itself. Take some hope in that. Just hang in there. I've had several of those Nerve Conduction Studies like Shirley calls them and they are bearable. Not a tea party but ok.
Jeanette
you mean the tests are painful as well?
Just relax when you have the test and you will do fine. I'm a big baby when it comes to pain and I got through the test just fine. You will too. I expected it to be worse than it was. Don't worry.
The electrical exams showed minor carpul tunnel. The neurosurgeon called me today more concerned about my blood tests than anything. My white & red blood cells are screwed up. She asked me if I had felt sick or got sick shortly after the tests, and I told her yes, two days after the tests was Thanksgiving, which I spent at home due to the stomach flu. That explains the white blood cells, she said. But the red blood cells were a concern - she says It looks like I may have a certain type of anemia that causes muscle aches, fatigue, lack of appetite, etc.... all of which I have. I mean, I can take 3 bites of food and be completely exhausted. She said that this makes sense, with the immune problems my daughter has suffered with all her life. They are going to follow up on this. I see the neurosurgeon on the 13th to follow up on the carpul tunnel, and then my regular doctor to follow up on the blood tests and the xray they took of my knee.
I just want to be well by Spring. I'd like to not only return to work and feel like a responsible citizen, but also be able to get out and enjoy my favorite hobbies, gardening and fishing. Lately I've felt like I'm trapped in a bubble - can't do much of anything without getting weak, dizzy, faint, or hurt.
Anyways, please keep me either in your prayers or good thoughts as this search for answers continues.
Thanks,
Karrie
Hi Karrie, so what are they doing about the anemia? How did you get the carpel tunnel? Do you work on computers a lot at home? work? I thought they had pretty much corrected the cause of that. At least when it comes to computers.
What is wrong with the knee?
Didn't know you like to fish. Fly? or other?
Jeanette
I like the idea of organizing all these brug helpful hints. I'm new to it and will be planting my first seeds thanks to Eclips. But all these little notes I've been printing and trying to assemble into something useful...Augggghhhh!
Preplanting info, hybrid rights, planting seeds vs. cuttings, soil for pots and in-ground, planting "seasons", etc. etc.
Newbies need your expertise.
Jnette,
I'm not even sure at this point if it is anemia - it just looks like it might be, thus more tests. The carpul tunnel showed up in the electrical tests, right arm - which doesn't surprise me. I have typed all my life, for a living at 80+ WPM - and have typed thick books at times. The knee thing is an ongoing thing, I had orthoscopic surgery back in 1982, that wasn't done right, but I get an "electrical" feeling in that knee, as I do in my back as well, and they may send me to a neurologist for it - it could even be M.S. I have symptoms of many things at this point, so they have alot of ruling out to do.
Gosh, I thought it was back trouble. Sounds like it doesn't pay you to go to the doctor. Hope they can get everything fixed for you. Spring will be here very soon. Well, at least I can hope.
It started as back trouble, lol. Then my neck, today it's my back................... AMAZING what they find to diagnose you with for something like that.
If it moves around, maybe it is arthritis.
She took a blood test for that as well and didn't mention that on the phone today.
Karrie, hang in there! I have added you to my prayers. Please keep us posted!!!
Well, I hope you don't have it. It's pretty hard to get away from arthritis.
I'll keep you all posted. I'm going to go to Dave's chatroom real quick and see who all is there.
Thank you all for your prayers and concern.
Karrie
Karrie, I'm glad you got through the Nerve Conduction Study. Just wish that the Dr's. could figure out what's causing you the pain, plus fatigue. Problems with your neck will most likely show up in your arms, hands & fingers. Typing 80+w.p.m. and producing large volumes of material will definitely contribue to Carpal Tunnel. Hope they can straighten out your blood tests too! I'll keep you in my thoughts and prayers!
Karrie, have they ruled out Fibromyalgia? It's painful and you stay exhausted.
I will see my regular doc on the 23rd and we will go over all of this then. This Monday the 13th I will see the neurosurgeon again, and have questions for her, to relay back to my regular doc.
