Well sorta new. My Dad got a new one and gave me his old one. That's how I ended up with the other one. Anyway, the difference in quality is very noticible. Can't wait to shoot some brug blooms with it!!! Here's what's blooming in my little GH today:
No brugs...but a new camera
Very crisp and clear pictures. What kind of camera is this? Gosh, I must have the oldest camera on Daves now. LOL! Sorry, I'm not getting a new one yet. Your CC's are gorgeous.
they are beautiful, what is camera????
Very beautiful Gretchen...I love the white with red center! The photos are so nice and crisp and clear!
When my Dad received this camera, he gave me the one I've been using for a few years, and its the same one that Brugie has, which has been a wonderful camera -- an Olympus Camedia D-400. The new one, he received in 2001 and its an Olympus C-3000Zoom. It has more mega-pixels and has multiple settings from fully automati to fully manual, so you can be a little more creative... I'm going to have tons of fun with it, once I have some good subject matter!
Linda -- won't be long now -- what color are they? I love Cc!!!
PS -- thank you all for your nice comments!
And, Shirley -- I would've been happy with the other one for some time to come, had this one not landed in my lap, or should I say, mailbox today!
Lucky girl. I'm happy for you. I only take pictures for the memory of what my flowers look like from one year to the next. I don't need something really great, but if Santa were to drop one in my stocking, I wouldn't tell him to take it back. LOL!
Thank you Shirley! My wonderful Dad has a way of doing little things like this when I least expect him to! Poor David though...that's what he wanted to get me for Christmas -- of course he tells me that now! LOL! Guess he'll have to figure something else out -- told him a REAL greenhouse would fit the bill nicely!!!
Gretchen...a really nice tripod would be nice too, if you don't have one. I have a really nice one with a ball socket on the head, which makes it easier to move...the only problem is, is that I rarely take it out to use!
I will look into the one I have, if you are interested! Margie
Margie...thanks, but I have several different types of tripods from a big monster to a handheld. I have some really fine, albeit obsolete nikon professional 35mm equipment too. Of course its been in my attic for more than 20 years LOL!
Isn't it just awful how quickly this electronic stuff becomes obsolete??? Your photos are ALWAYS super, but the new camera ones are sharp, even with my eyes I can see a difference. I'm getting a new cell phone, the Razor(??), and it has a camera - do any of you have one?? I'd love to hear how you like it. This is my first upgrade in years, whew!!
Shoot Sherry, I just got my first cell phone a couple of months or so ago. I can't figure out everything it has on it and there is no camera on it, for sure. I'd really be in a mess if I had to figure that out too. Hope you get it working well for you.
One way I like to use mine is to go around and take a 'panarama' of my yard showing what is blooming where, then next year, like in the spring when I'm ready to dig, I know where things are planted so I know not to did there.
Gosh, Linda, thanks!! Not that i will EVER figure out to work it, but that's exactly what I'd like to do with it, as well as photo my grands and dogs. Taking the photos is soooooooo much better than any other method I've used...
Great pictures, Gretchen.
I think that picture is so crisp Gretchen!! You seem to have picked up how to use it so quickly! I just ordered a new camera for me this week. I can't wait to get it. I just hope it is not too dependent on the user having a functioning brain!
My DH is lucking out, he gave me an IOU for a camera 2 Christmases ago. I was to pick one out. It took me a year to pick one, the Canon G5. I got it for Christmas last year. I had it for about a month and the pictures were not so great, the camera was too big, and I was too dumb.
So I went back looking. I almost bought a Nikon cool pix. Sue has one and it takes the best macros I have ever seen. But then Olympus just put out a new camera with everything I want and it is only 7.7 oz. Please pray it is idiot proof!
So anyway, this is the 3rd Christmas I am getting the same gift!! He loves it! LOL
Great pictures, Nice camera.
Beautiful photos Gretchen. I really need to take the time and learn how to use mine. Congrats on the new camera!!
Wow, Kell. You can open your own camera store soon. LOL
Thank you all so much! I am going to have lots and lots of fun with this one!
Kell -- which Olympus? As far as digitals go, I would not even look at other brands. They have several out now that I was drooling over, but now I have one that will hopefully last for quite a while :)
The one thing that is really remarkable about this camera is the image color. The old one does not produce accurate colors, and this one is right on the money! Yeah!!!!
Gosh, I hope my new one does color right! I love the little Canon I have now. My DH gave this to me about 5 years ago for Christmas. I didn't even open the box for 2 years till I joined Dave's. Then I said TOMMMMMMMMMMMM where is that camera! LOL. Since then, I wore it out!
Ada, I didn't keep the Canon G5. I returned it. I buy from Costco, you can return!!
Gretchen, it is the Olympus C-7000 zoom. It is so new, no one even has a review on it yet. But it has 7.1 mp, and it has a 2 cm super macro with 5 X optical zoom and best of all at 7.7 oz, I hope to fit it in my pocket like I can my Canon now.

Oooohhhhh, Kell! That sounds just awesome! Lucky you!!! That should take spectacular pix -- Can't wait to see some of them :)
Brugie I will give you a great trade, a digital camera for a cutting above the Y that will bloom sooner, I have a new one and no longer need this one, it is a Toshiba, send me email.
LOL! Thanks Doris, but I do have a good camera. At least good enough for what I need it for.
I'm looking forward to seeing even more of your beautiful pictures. Have lots of fun playing with your new toy!!
Wonderful pictures.
Thank you, Shirley! It really does take nice ones!
Gretchen...are you using the automatic or manual settings? If automatic, your photos are beautiful...if manual...what settings are you using...you got me checking out the olympus on line now!!
Margie
Margie -- I'm embarrassed to say...fully automatic with it set on aperature priority. I haven't finished reading the book yet. Been having too much fun just using it! This is my 3rd Olympus -- I had a 35mm SLR point and shoot zoom, before the digitals. I was into only Nikon pros. before that. I'm really loving this one!
PS -- I think that the one Kell has ordered is the most current version of this one. I looked into "hers" when I was "looking around" for new one, that wasn't going to happen...but itws fun to dream. Then this one litterally dropped into my lap LOL!
VERY nice pics from that! We currently have an old Olympus Camedia and were really happy with it, until, of course, all these newer and better ones came out. Russ is looking at them again - as ours is not doing very well anymore. He may just go Olympus again, after seeing these pics.
I sure hope mine takes such great pics on auto, Gretchen! I am an auto lady believe me!
Awesome photos Gretchen.
Congrats Gretchen. That's how I got my Olympus. A co worker got a new one and gave it to me since he was so impressed with the pics I was able to get with my canon pro 90. He wanted me to have a camera with a larger file size and more pixels
OH,OH,OH...I want my photos to look like that!!! :-)))
