OK, So I'm bored today.
I thought it would be a good thread for us to post our own favourite photos. They can be of ANY subject. Post as many as you'd like and tell us what they are of, and why they are so dear to your heart. I've been going through my 1000's of photos, and those are just the digital ones... and have selected a few.
Maybe my screen didn't load all the way, I don't have the attach button showing up, I"ll keep trying.

Favourite photos
Well this msg has the attach button, so here's the first. It's a year old, and taken when we were in Hawai'i last year. We were on a zodiac boat, out for a snorkel cruise, (and what a great day, cruise, snorkel it was!) This is a bunch of lava rock that a wave had just broke over, creating this waterfall. The timing was perfect. It remains one of my most favourite photos, and is on my decktop now.
This next one is of my Mom, wonderful lady that she is. She turned 74 in the summer, and we were out at a campsite, on the ocean. She was watching the wild (not very) bunnies and seemed very peaceful. It's a wonderful shot of her. Forgot to add the picture :(((

Gorgeous photos, Linda & Ingrid. The one of Hawaii nearly had me in tears, Linda. What a sight for sore eyes on a gloomy gray November afternoon. sure brought back memories for me as well. Ingrid, Misty is adorable. Looks healthy enough to me to around for another few years yet!
Here's one of my Springer Spaniel X puppy, Buddy. He is 16 months old and keeps us on our toes!

OldFlowerGirl - Here's a picture of my Christina Lake! This is our family's cabin at the lake. When I was 10 years old (way back in 1969) our family had their first camping trip there which was the start of our annual trip to Christina for summer holidays. After camping for some years my parents could afford to rent a cabin and then they later purchased the cabin in the picture. Now with their kids and a few grandkids, everyone can enjoy this little piece of paradise.
Susan
Oh Susan, this is very cool. Where is your Cabin located? Address? I was on Massie Road. We had a wonderful view of the Lake. There were a lot of people from Calgary and surrounding area that came for summer vacation every year. A lot of "Murricans" and West Coast people as well. A fellow from Victoria bought our place to retire to some day. Right now he rents it out. Such a gorgeous lake, so clear clean and warm. I miss it. So do write back and tell me more. My hubby and I did a lot of walking, cycling, and boating over the time we lived there. Great hiking trails around the lake too. Christina Lake really is a little piece of Paradise. Wouldn't it have been something if we had passed each ofther in the Huckleberry Mountain Market!
OldFlowerGirl - Our family cabin is located at what was (many years ago) the Alpine Resort. Coming from Castelgar when you first see the lake it is the first turn down the hill where you have to take the turnout on the highway and take the switch back road that leads to the marina and the Texas Point campground. We are just south of the marina road. The resort which had a lodge, cabins and camping was sold and divided into into individual lots and now operates sort of like a condo/home owners association where each member owns their individual lot and has a share in the common areas and associated costs. Our cabin was one of the existing cabins that were rented out. Not right on the beach but just back a bit in the trees.
When I was a kid we started camping at the Schulli resort and then rented a cabin at Alpine. There was always a large Calgary contingent that gathered the first few weeks in August. When did you live there and what prompted you to move to Castlegar?
Cinnamon buns and borscht from Anne's bakery are the best! Work and other circumstances have kept me away from the lake for a couple of years but someone from the clan is always there all summer and every holiday (May long weekend, easter and thanksgiving). The cabin is not winterized and the water is off at the resort during the winter but in our younger days we would still make the trip over the Christmas holidays even though we had to haul water. It was so beautiful at that time - milder weather than we are used to and tons of snow.
I know the Alpine area well as DH and I spent a lot of time at the Marina, and I know the cabins there too. Very nice area. We lived down at the bottom of Kingsley Rd. (Kool Treat) to your right on Massie Road, accross from the lake. Too bad you weren't out for Christmas this past year. It was lovely and mild with very little snow. But in January we dipped down to -20 for 2 nights. What chaos! A lot of people's water pipes froze. Normally, they don't need to winterize and insulate much there, and the lake froze over. The first time in several years. But the temps most of the winter hovered around the freezing mark, so it was nice for walking which I did every day. I hope it's nice again this year.
We took early retirement in the Spring of 2003 and moved to Christina Lake from Edmonton. But DH just couldn't get used to it. He missed being busy and working. So after looking around the Lake and Grand Forks for employment, we found there was just none to be had in a resort area. So when an opportunity came up in Castlegar, we decided we had to go for it. We moved in July of this year. He is very happy now as an owner/operator for a courier company and his route runs right through Christina Lake to Grand Forks daily. I often go with him for the drive to see the lake and enjoy the mountain scenery.
So if you ae going to come out to the Lake this summer, we'll have to get together. It's only a 3/4 of an hour drive for me. It would be great to meet you.
