Tree Guards??

Porterfield, WI(Zone 4b)

Does anyone have a good source for tree guards, the ones you put on young trees to keep rabbits from chewing them?? Thanks, Legit

we use the plastic field tiles

Is this the plastic PVC ones with holes, or some type of corrugated ones? I'm not very familiar with them. Do you just cut lengths and drop over saplings? What do you use on established trees that are small yet have a spread of branches? Legit

The tiles are slit up the side from top to bottom and then pushed around the trunk
The one dh uses have no holes in them, they are solid black plastic very flexible
(will try to get you a pic tomorrow)
Last yr the snowdrifts got so high the rabbits could reach the bottom branches-they do a lot off damage in 1 nite!!
we use the same kind on all trees here!

Does this stuff come in more than one diameter? And do you just get it at any lumberyard? I previously had chicken wire cages around everything, and this summer put up a chain link fence to keep out the deer, but I will still need rabbit control, and took most of the rabbit wire cages off because they look like [deleted] and the branches on alot of things that did not get eaten off because they stuck out of the cages, got bent and misshapen from being inside!!!!!!! You just can't win! We have a very large old barn with hay for our horses, and despite two cats and a dog, we just can't get the best of the rabbits, and I agree, just turn your back for a few days, and they can make you cry from the damage! Thanks for the help, I will watch for your pic to make sure I'm thinking of the same stuff! Legit

This is one of the products I use-
http://www.treepro.com/id82.html

They are working for me and for my friends. If you are interested in trying this product, shop around on the net for the best pricing and smaller quantities than what buying from the manufacturer would affer you! Consider using readily available bamboo stakes rather than what they sell with their product as they are more affordable.

Good luck to you.
