Would you be able to post any of the recipes in the recipe forum - I bet there are lots of people who would like to know.

Must dash to the post now, back later....

Balotesti, Romania(Zone 5a)

I'll post the recipes, but first I have to write it in English.
Have a great week-end !

Castelnau RB Pyrenée, France(Zone 8a)

Oh, lol, yes of course, didn't think of that!

You have a good weekend too
Bon weekend a toi aussi :)

El Cajon, CA(Zone 10a)

Bless your heart Adina, all the cleaning you do for Christmas, on top of all the cooking and decorating..that was a lovely picture of your very handsome son, with all of your lovely decorations...
Philomel has given you a very good acount of the English fare, here turkey is the number one, however, people do enjoy a sampling of lots of meats..ham, pork, beef, lamb.. even some barbeques [ barbequed turkeys] or turkeys now cooked in large vats of oil...apparantly tastes delicious...I did Venison last year with turkey also, I used a curried fruit sauce, which my family loves. It is a very dry meat but lean...we have had it barbequed too but it has to be watched and lots of sauce so it does not dry out...
will have to email you as do not want to fill up the thread too much, we actually had a very bad car accident on Tuesday [l4th] ..my car is totalled., bad enough but could have been a lot worse...no broken bones, but injuries to back, neck, head, etc., and lots of bruising and abrasions..etc.,
Our eldest son does not know yet, still making preparations to see him for the weekend..am making that roast beef and yorkshire pudd if it kills me...[it is marinating in wine and herbs right now.. for tomorrow]
I have more determination that sense so it seems....

it will be lovely to see him...We will be travelling up to visit our youngest son/family for Christmas, I make the dinner, they all used to come down here before when my health was good, now I cook instead..Will have a real challenge travelling in hubbys pick up truck..[his baby not mine]...need a new car...loved mine but it is now in junk yard...
We are having extremely warm weather but the [warm] dry Santa ana winds have kicked up so situation in mountains just treacherous with big rigs blown over, here wind is so warm and dry, and our pool full of leaves and debris etc., however, it is so beautiful, we will forgive the strong winds...[does not bother us..more dangerous for those drivers up in the mountains]...always worse up there..lots of snow in the mountains too, a pot pourri of weather that is for sure....
Been dragging Christmas decorations out today and I mean
DRAGGING..oh well, it can only get better I think...[I hope]..see my doc on Monday, spent all of Tuesday in the emergency in hospital..neckbrace, whiplash not too bad, it is becoming a memory now, horrendous when it happened, my first car accident...hope no more...
Don't over do and rest..this is the key to get extra rest if you can...want to hear more about your traditions and food..[when or if you have time]..my regards, marion

Oh wanted to mention, over here in the USA we make either stuffed cabbage [Swedish] or stuffed cabbage [Polish I believe it is]..one is with a tomato sauce, the other without..either way they are delicious [ made with pork and beef] and rice...

Blenheim, New Zealand

I am glad to here you!!!! are alright peterson .
looking also forward too your recipe's adinamiti.

Castelnau RB Pyrenée, France(Zone 8a)

Oh Marion!! so pleased you are not too badly hurt. What a rotten thing to happen :(

You're preparations sound good. The cabbage sounds lovely - such a tasty vegetable when not overdone!
Thanks for the tips on the venison - I've just ordered a shoulder from a deer farm that's nearby :)
I've seen suggestions to marinade it first and to wrap it in foil for the first part of the cooking.....?

El Cajon, CA(Zone 10a)

Hi Hilary, just about to retire, but still trying to catch up on my mail...thanks for your kind remarks and yours Boots..yes, we were really fortunate..some stupid woman couldn't wait for 15 seconds to let us drive past she shot out in front of us, my hubby tried to miss her, swerved to the left but she still kept coming, hadn't the sense to stop, her hubby was injured too..makes little sense or none really...
I just seared the venison I had first before I placed in the oven [used lots of oil], purchased ours from a venison farm so had lots of different cuts of meat plus medallions etc., [ those are very tender] I always marinate my meats first and like to use herbs etc, I am not sure I really like the flavor of the meat, but my family did and I really cook for them.. [I just really do not care that much for meat I guess]
I have a real problem with alluminum...but that is part of my health problems..I have too much of it..really strange as I gave up on it years ago, but it is in so much of what we use and things like alka seltzers etc., even those strong English peppermints which I used to love..got quite a shock when I started to do my homework...

Hope those heavy winds are not where you are Philomel, not sure how far you are from Paris...
How is the weather in your parts boots..do you have the same seasons as Australia, I would think so ? [your summer weather right now ] ??

We have warm sunny Christmas's too, unless we go up into the mountains to see the snow..its fun as we can leave it behind...[even driving by to see the snow capped mountains in the distance is a real treat]...
well, I must be off now, sleep first then busy weekend..glad I can still walk [grin]...my wacky humour is back....

Balotesti, Romania(Zone 5a)

Didn't know about the accident, Marion. I'm glad you are forgetting now. I wish you all the best and a lot of health.
Your meals seems so delicious, but so unusual for me. We still don't cook with fruits, only cakes.

Here is raining and it will snow Until Thursday. It seems we'll have snow for Christmas.

I've put a recipe on the recipe on the recipe forum, if you like to see.

Here is another picture with me on the same New Year's Eve.

Thanks very much for the venison tips Marion

We're at the other end of the country from Paris fortunately, so, though we've had rather blowy weather, it has brought no big problems. It's been very wet too, but today is dry and a lot colder.
We don't often have snow here though - but sounds as if you may have a white Christmas Adina
I'll go and look on the recipe forum, and thanks for the email:)

BTW Great pic - was that really the way up you were after celebrating the New Year?? *g*

El Cajon, CA(Zone 10a)

whoops Adina, cannot use my neck you are upside down smile, doing better than me when I finally get to post..
I will look for your recipe it sounds wonderful...

I am just busy having tests here, lots of not nice things showing up since the accident, and my car is ruined ..its actually totalled in the junk yard, and so now we have the unsavoury problem of having to find a car which I can tolerate..[ cannot buy new and it is really really going to cost us] allergic to everything...however...life goes on...
We all have dry parched lips because of our heat, the dry winds are still with us...our favourite products right now are hand lotions and body creams..I need to get some wrapping done, but it hurts too much...too many phone calls and headaches with insurance claims etc.,etc., will have to concentrate on Christmas, after that lots of tests for me at the hospital :((( take it easy everyone..

Castelnau RB Pyrenée, France(Zone 8a)

Oh, so sorry to here about all this Marion. Will be thinking of you and hoping you have a really good Christmas and that all your problems get resolved easily Hugs

Thanks Diane and to you :)

Balotesti, Romania(Zone 5a)

Thanks, philo, hope you are enjoying your holidays. Are you on the mountains ? I was with some friends in a german restaurant on the Christmas Eve and we've enjoyed it so much, although we didn't hear anything until the next morning !!! The music was so loud, as there were almost only young people there.

What did Santa brought you, everyone ? My Santa was my daughter and she sent me some money to buy a pair of boots, very nice !

This morning, when I went to the park with Boss, was very cold and all the branches and the grass were frozen, it was like in a fairy tale !

Thanks, Diane, all the best to you too !
Have to go, I have some guests !
Adina

Castelnau RB Pyrenée, France(Zone 8a)

Lovely to hear what you're up to Adina
Sounds as if you're having a good Christmas (and Boss too :)

We went to the Pyrenees yesterday to try out the sledges and snow suits I gave my two granddaughters who live here. It was great fun
Lots of snow and the roads were very slippery high up on the mountains, but we managed not to toboggan in the car......

Not a very good photo - but it was quite tricky with all the snow and being slippery
hope you can get the idea anyway. Anna and Zoe are one behind the other and the other two are my daughter Vivien and her husband Keith

Hope everyone else is having a good time

Castelnau RB Pyrenée, France(Zone 8a)

Yes, Happy and Prosperous New Year to everyone

Anna is 11 and Zoe is 9 Adina, and I agree we are very lucky to live so near the mountains. It's a totally different world up there. The four are planning to go up there again today as the girls go back to school on monday, but it's very foggy out, so I don't know if they will.....

So pleased you had a good Christmas. Our venison was a success and we all enjoyed ourselves.
How was everybody else's Christmas?

Balotesti, Romania(Zone 5a)

A Happy New Year to all : philomel, Marion, boots ...!!!
WWe had a very good time for the New Years Eve with some friends. They came to us and I had a good time, although I am exausted now ! Instead,Boss had a rough time because of the fireworks. We kept him in our bedroom until 5 a.m., so he couldnt hear it no more !

Marion, I also hope our new friendship will last for ever ! I only wish we could meet each other sometimes in this life !

Here is my daughter, she is coming tomorrow, she says for good...doesn't get along anymore with her boyfriend...this is the n-time she says so !!!

I'm sending also a good wish for the people in SE Asia... For the victims..may God rest their souls...

Wish we could get to meet sometime too Adina, you sound like you hve really enjoyed the holidays...
Lovely photo of your daughter, how do you feel about having her home again ? [smile] will probably not come to that..it is hard once they move and we establish new routines...
Our new year was quiet..in answer to your enquiries about Christmas Hilary, ours was really the pits in a lot of ways..since our car collision, pain has gotten so much worse, however it has been my chest [torn muscle in sternum from seat belt] which created the most pain..and with all of the extra work I was almost in tears Christmas Day as still had the dinner to finish, and gifts to wrap [they were actually bundled into some gift wrap bags with tissue paper]..I normally love to wrap gifts..but just too much pain...instead of arriving at our sons at 4pm was 8pm because I had to lie down for a couple of hours and slept..however, it was lovely to see them and spend time with them, but our Christmas really was ruined.....
[we normally enjoy the drive up because of the snow capped mountains that we can see, but was too dark when we left]

New Year was quiet but nice, a lovely fire in our new wood stove in sun room, so we could watch the fireworks thru the glass roof, and a real good movie...one of the British mysteries...I was on a lounge so stretched out in comfort and did it feel good after all the stress and busy-ness of Christmas and aftermath...another good snooze too....
We did feel so very sad watching all the horrific news and so much devastation...we can only say God bless them all and be with them..

Balotesti, Romania(Zone 5a)

Hi, Marion !
I'm sorry about you having so much pain, hope you're better now. Didn't you go to the doctor, have any treatament ? I wish you get well sooner.

My daughter is like a storm when she comes home ! Now she is a little more quiet than usual. It's hard but we'll get along. I'm glad she came, I'm feeling better now, more reliefed.
Take care, Adina
