Does anyone grow Brugs in an "Earthbox"?

Palominas, AZ(Zone 8a)

Thank you.

Does anyone have a good potting soil formula for using in the earthboxes for growing brugs ??

In my 5 and 15 gallon pots I now use
peat, vermiculite and steer manure.
They do okay but cant compare to the ones that their roots have gone to ground. The building they are in used to be a stable with ten box stalls and when they root into that ground they take off and grow up and push the roof with hundreds of blooms !!! Maybe I should dig that soil up to use in my pots and fill the holes in with my potting mix.!

Send some of that to me!!!! Can't beat it. or better yet, bottle it!! Jeanette

Thanks re the earthbox instructions!!! As for soil, I used the soil my tomatoes were planted in, which came with the purchased boxes and i'm going to use it again, despite being told that the tomatoes might give the brugs 'something'. I've stuck too many broken limbs, seeds, problem brugs in it all season, that are my very best plants to be too concerned. However, I suspect STRONGLY, that the soil that comes with the boxes is just as much, if not more important, that the box. I've never seen anything like it - it is more of a powder than soil, you wet it, put the plant or seed or branch in, along with their prepared fert, which looks like rat poison, and then use the red mulch plastic, which is sold at Walmart/Lowes. There is no doubt in my mind that the soil, fert, red plastic is more important than the container, and is it ever pricey, whew!! The ONLY problem I see with the boxes in the earthbox instructions, is that the purchased ones have two 'dams' in the bottom of the box, which must be important. I cannot wait to see how the homemade boxes will work!!! After having grown seedlings this way, considering that I'm a total hobby grower, there is no way I can go back to the slower methods...

Has anyone used their Earthbox with their own potting formula and had as good of results as the formula and fertilizer that comes with the box ?

Buttonwillow: Just as soon as I get a chance, I'm going to do that. I cannot wait to see how it goes!!!
