Tropical Hibiscus Coop Anyone Interested?

Cassopolis, MI(Zone 5a)

We don't have to have any certain number, but I would like to be sure that there is enough interest to make it wothwhile for Curt to spend his time on.

Tillamook, OR(Zone 8b)

Yahoo!! How many people do you feel there needs to be to go ahead with the co-op? I would absolutely want in on this co-op!!! I have looked at the website quite a few times and drooled all over everything!!!

I thought I posted that i would be interested in a co-op, but don't see my post, anyway if you go with it count me in. Donna

Cassopolis, MI(Zone 5a)

At the moment I am just not sure if this is worthwhile or not????

Dstarz is preparing to have one with another vendor and I am not sure if there is really a need to do another one??

Donna has said that she would run hers long enough for us northerners to be involved, so I guess at this point I am feeling a little like I should put a hold on this to see the ones she will be offering in her coop.

I know she posted that she was just waiting approval, so I think we should probably all check the coop thread and see what she is offering.

If each coop have different ones, I bet there would be enough of us to go for both!!

smithton, MO(Zone 5a)

Hi Cindy and Kell

I will wait and see what is offered in Donna's and then see what we all think then.

Lewisburg, KY(Zone 6a)

I have been on the co-op page and didn't see one. Is the other, for Hardy Hibiscus?

Knoxville, TN(Zone 7a)

Teresa, I don't think that the other coop is set up in the coop forum yet. There was a coop for Hardy Hibiscus - but that's different to the ones being discussed here.

Cassopolis, MI(Zone 5a)

I know in Donnas post recently she said she had sent an application in for approval, so I would check back occasionaly to keep an eye on it.

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

I just love these hibiscus. I can never winter them over, so I am thrilled to get them in early spring.

Oviedo, FL(Zone 9b)

Oooooh! It's my birthday today and this is the first thread I read in this forum! a sign! a sign! Time for me to get myself a present! I am in. I need to be shipped at the appropriate time for my zone though as we are aslready having frost and snow here in MA.

Cassopolis, MI(Zone 5a)

alice does this mean your coop is off?? I saw some very lovely ones (in particular, the trailing hibiscus) w/ the vendor you planned to use. I don't see any trailing ones featured in the other coop. what's going to happen w/ this one?

yes, I'm weak (or is it obsessed?) I ordered from the other one too.

Cassopolis, MI(Zone 5a)

Grass Lake, MI(Zone 5a)

Here waiting in line!!

Cassopolis, MI(Zone 5a)

Okay thats 5 we need 5 more!!!!

Chicago, IL(Zone 5b)

This sounds great. I would like to be included. I have two large hib standards that I trained and bloom constantly all summer. More blooms than ever since I tried pruning them back to 6-8" inches from the main trunk, and hold them cool and semi-dormant over winter. This one reached 6' ft, a nice clear tropical orange. Count me in!

There is a difference in price which is also discussed near the top of the thread.

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

Magellan, what is that pink flower that is contrasting so nicely with your orange hibiscus?

(Nadine) Devers, TX(Zone 9b)

I still want to do this one...

Cassopolis, MI(Zone 5a)

Okay I will contact curt today and see how soon he wants to start!!!!

Westmoreland, TN(Zone 7a)

Robbie

Chicago, IL(Zone 5b)

Kell, the hanging pink flowers around the orange hibiscus are Polygonum (persicaria) orientalis. They start blooming in June here, and grow up to 10' ft. It's one of my favorites, the large leaves look tropical and have an interesting collar-like growth appendage where the petiole attachs to the main stem. Easy and reseeds but not invasive here. The plants branch but do not over shadow surrounding plantings. Excellent companion for brugs and cannas for color and contrast. I have seeds if you would like...

Thanks, Brugie! At these prices I can hibiscus over my house! I like several on each link. Sigh. and it's winter in MA. I have to wait!!

Exotic hibiscus has a couple that the other coop doesn't have. so I will spread the largesse around. I just got a lovely green birthday present from my mom. just the right size to participate in both coops. It's still winter!
