I had a thundercloud plum planted this past spring. By mid-summer, all the leaves were gone. Is the tree dead or is this a normal consequence of the first year of replanting?
Replanted Thundercloud Plum
Could be the stress of transplanting, it may leaf back out in spring and be fine. Take your fingernail and scratch a small spot in several areas of the trunk and branches. If it's green below, it's alive, if it's black or dry below it's not. I would cut off any dead branches whenever you would normally prune fruit trees and roses....for us here that's January....I'm sure it's different for you! K
