I'm going to break down and buy a digital camera. I know very little about them. Need your advice and what should I be looking for?
I will be able to get some pix on DG.
Need Advice on Digitial Cameras
paulgrow -- You and me, both! I think we've decided to sell our nice 35mm outfit so we can get a nicer digital camera...But we're not sure yet. There are several threads on DG (one of which I started with a question almost identical to yours). My best advice is to do your homework. I have read every review on epinions for the models I'm considering, and the folks here at DG have been great!
Here's some DG threads:

But wait, there's more...And here's epinions.com
Main page: http://www.epinions.com

Hope that helps! I'm thinking about getting an Olympus or a Nikon, myself. I've decided I want to stay with a company with a good service/manufacturing history in cameras rather than go with some of the electronics companies that have only recently introduced digital cameras.

I have an Olympus that I like alot. Camera prices are dropping fast, I have noticed.
Don't break them. My Olympus was dropped on concrete and it cost $106 to fix it ( and you know the switch they replaced was a plastic cheap piece) But customer service was fast and very polite.
I am used to a 35mm single reflex lens and digitals for the most part are poimt and shoots but they can take great images.
Get extra rechargable batteries when you buy the camera as the batteries it comes with will run down in about 2 hours qand will need replacing.
I didn't check all the hot links provided, but that is only because it is very late and I should be sleeping!!! LOL
I have a Sony Mavica 71 - two years old - uses floppy disks, as it came before the mega-pixel craze! I love i t - I absolutely love it!! If I broke it or lost it, I would replace with another Sony ........ and I think the 95 allows use of floppies, as well as media stix ( not certain on THAT fact), but I would check them all out first.
I still have my 35 mm Canon Aqua Snappy, as it does do underwater, as well as above - BUT - I gave away ALL my unexposed film within a month of embarking on this digital love affair!!!
Advice to do your homework is the best advice!! Find real time folks w/ these toys, and ask them to give you a lesson or two. I borrowed a Sony over night, and bought my own in less than 24 hours!
