My big fat Golden Lady!

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

This one has been in the present location for 2 years. It is 3 years old. Last year at this time I cut it way back leaving only a few stems with pods. I was thinking it was virused and would have to toss it as soon as the pods ripened. monika came to its rescue.

The side growth gets to be 10 feet tall.

I wish I could get a good photo of the entire thing. It has hundreds of blooms on it. It was not a great bloomer all summer, but is now going crazy.

This is looking up at it.

Boy, that will be a big job when you do decide to remove it from that spot. LOL! She is a great grower and bloomer.

Ellicott City, MD(Zone 7a)

It must be gorgeous in full bloom! I can't get over the size of its trunk! That's quite a big girl!!

Yukon, OK(Zone 7b)

Oh Kell, I bet that is a beautiful sight in person! And I'm sure it will only get better! It's just beautiful. Enjoy all those blooms.

Barnesville, GA(Zone 8a)

Now Kell, with a photo like that, I wish you'd give us a bigger pic! I'm sure I'm not the only one with old eyes. Please show a bigger view, I've never seen GL like that!

Kell, you mention your brug being in her present location for 2 years and that she is 3 years old; we obviously live in different zones, but I'm wondering how long it takes a 2 year old plant to recover from such a move. Of course, I see how pretty/healthy it is, but how long did it take to grow into the beautiful brug it is now?? Also, I assume you moved it because 1) it didn't like it's location or 2) you needed it in another area for it's size or color, etc. Or, maybe there was another reason. I'm going to have to move LOTS next spring for those two reasons, and I would like to know how long it might take adult plants to recover and, what time of year did you move yours?????

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

Oh Sherry, I am not moving her! She is there for good. Last winter she did not even get leaf burn, I think! I think I had her with either in the brug garden or in a pot for the first year I had her. She and a Rosamond are right in front of my porch. They seem to get protection there. My Rosamond is a huge tree. I bet more than 14 ft tall and 14 feet wide. She hardly even got freezer burn last year.

I can't remember why I put her there. She was a cutting and has grown into a huge tree in the 3 years I have had her. Last fall I cut her to just a single trunk with no off shoots. I was going to toss her after her pods ripend. But Monika told me the splits I was seeing in her branch crotches, we not a sign of disease. In 1 summer it has more than at least has quadrupled in size! Being in the ground lets them go nuts.

I would dig them in the spring. Cut the canopy by as much as you think the roots were cut. Replant it immediatley and water it in well.

Vi, I can't get a good shot for the lawn is now all pots of seedlings so I can't stand directly in front of it to get a head on shot. Here is one from the side, but you mostly see the Rosamond.

My camera is not good on busy landscape shots. And white always has a green tinge to it.

Size, kell, like small 640 x 480 (or whatever) yours are what?

Now, not really complaining, mind you, but with shots like yours, I'd love to see them screen size! And I bet I have alot of followers, lol!

Yukon, OK(Zone 7b)

Count me as one! LOL Kell your brugs are beautiful!!!

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

I have no clue why some are of mine are bigger than others. I think Dave's now resizes them. Let me try this size.

edited to say that even though it is not bigger in the thumbnail, it is huge when you click on it. I think it takes too long to open now though.

What size do most people post?

that is better Kell. i normally use 680 x 480. almost the size of the one above

Barnesville, GA(Zone 8a)

Yes, yes, yes!
Now I can really see how beautiful it is! I'm with MVR, when I hit the XP (powertoy) resizer, I usually click small which would be like yours, and for a real good pic I wanna show off, the medium size. We don't care if it takes a bit longer to show--we wanna see as much as possible :)
Thank you!!!!

that's more like it kell, they are simply beautiful, and the picture did not take long at all to come up

When I set my photos for e-mail, I first set the kind of photo to send, I use jpg, and then I set the first size number manually, at: 640. The digital then sets the 2nd number automatically...Kell, all of your photos opened quickly and the last two could be viewed more clearly. I have a Mac and cable - and I suppose the kind or size of a computer and server make a difference.

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

I also like the size of the last picture. Great shot Kell and it really does show how beautiful GL is.
