I think I had her with either in the brug garden or in a pot for the first year I had her. She and a Rosamond are right in front of my porch. They seem to get protection there. My Rosamond is a huge tree. I bet more than 14 ft tall and 14 feet wide. She hardly even got freezer burn last year. I can't remember why I put her there. She was a cutting and has grown into a huge tree in the 3 years I have had her. Last fall I cut her to just a single trunk with no off shoots. I was going to toss her after her pods ripend. But Monika told me the splits I was seeing in her branch crotches, we not a sign of disease. In 1 summer it has more than at least has quadrupled in size! Being in the ground lets them go nuts. I would dig them in the spring. Cut the canopy by as much as you think the roots were cut. Replant it immediatley and water it in well. Vi, I can't get a good shot for the lawn is now all pots of seedlings so I can't stand directly in front of it to get a head on shot. Here is one from the side, but you mostly see the Rosamond. |
