Finally Settled In Our New Home!

Myrtle Beach, SC(Zone 8a)

Well friends, Dave and I are finally settled into our new home here at the SC beach. It is so beautiful here, all of the native plants remind me of my birth home of California.

Being in a condo I container garden now, but oh the neat things you can do on walls, fences, etc. We have a back porch area with a renovated hot tub we bought for $100, and we plan to make tribal art and plant it like a jungle this coming Spring. Dave found a cool way to make large tikis with a chainsaw, hand torch, and insert lamp lights that look like torches into the tops of them. We will of course take them with us when we have our new home built.

Dave is having a ball being supervisor of one construction company, and another called us today to hire him on in addition to this other job. I also have an appointment tomorrow with a man that recently moved here from California. I will be giving him estimates on painting murals interior & exterior at his new home. I am currently finishing up a job for a neighbor, I am painting vines, flowers, etc. on a 12' fenceline for her, the mural appears to be the flora growing along the bottom and up the fence. I will be taking photos as it comes along to add to my portfolio.

My gardening isn't as vast as it was in Kerrville, but I am saving up to take Master Gardening & Landscaping, as well as Horticulture classes to start my own DREAM ... a landscaping and design business. Several friends say they will be using my services once I have everything up and running. I am SO HAPPY to be able to further my knowledge and to offer help to others, it will be nice to be able to pay it forward from all those who have helped me along life's garden path.

Did anyone see the spectacular solar eclipse last night? It was VERY overcast here and we missed it, hopefully someone has photos so we can see it too. They say the moon looked coppery red, I bet it was gorgeous! The next solar event is not suppose to be until 2007, I hope to see that one. :)

Well ta ta for now, I will be posting again as I find time between work & play.

Happy Harvest Everyone,
Texas Jewel

Newark, OH(Zone 5b)

Hey, great to hear your update! The torches sound neat...You could do your own Survivor. ;) It was cloudy here the night of the eclipse and I only got brief glimpses as it peeked out from behind cloud cover.
