Tuberose

(Zone 7a)

My Double Flowering Tuberose has lots of foliage. I planted the bulb in April. Still no flowers...Did I do something wrong?

I didn't get flowers on mine either.......maybe they have to be better established and or older before blooming. ?????

I guess soooo...seems to be happy though..Just No flowers.

Hillsboro, OH(Zone 6a)

I bought some in Eyes' co-op. I planted them in pots with a hand full of Osmocote in each pot. I stuck them out in my flimsy greenhouse in March and left them be aside from watering. They bloomed and bloomed and quickly became my favorite scent of summer. Seems like they bloomed from June until just a few weeks ago. Where did you get your bulbs? I bet it is a size issue??

Ohhh one of those bulb companys...can't remember now :-0

Jackson, SC(Zone 8a)

i have never had mine bloom other then the first year. i eventually gave up om them. if they are producing bublets (babies ) then they wont flower. i was also told that some bulbs is transplanted wont bloom that year. i know this is true of red spider lilies.

My tubers came from Eyes coop too. I had 1 bloom but planted maybe 20. Their smell is WONDERFUL. I did have the others form leaves but no flower and they were planted in the same area.

Seattle Burbs, WA(Zone 8b)

I received mine from Eye's co-op. I planted them on May 25th, the photo below shows how they are doing today. With the cold I do not think they will have enough time to bloom.

I planted in straight dirt amended with compost. I think next season will the tops for these!!

I planted five rhizomes in April of 2003 and got two stalks out of the five to bloom at the end of this summer. I understand that sometimes they bloom in the first year and sometimes the second from initial planting. The newly formed rhizomes can take one to two years to bloom. They need full sun, lots of water, and fertilizer in order to bloom. The soil should be acidic and acid-loving fertilizer should be used. I leave mine outside all year, but I read that they should be divided every four years. There is also some question about whether a flowering bulb will in fact flower in subsequent years, but I have yet to verify this.
