I understand that sometimes they bloom in the first year and sometimes the second from initial planting. The newly formed rhizomes can take one to two years to bloom. They need full sun, lots of water, and fertilizer in order to bloom. The soil should be acidic and acid-loving fertilizer should be used. I leave mine outside all year, but I read that they should be divided every four years. There is also some question about whether a flowering bulb will in fact flower in subsequent years, but I have yet to verify this. |
