Zone 5 Flowering Crab Tree blooming NOW!!??

Cedar Springs, MI(Zone 5b)

I have a Flower Crab Tree that is blooming now.
It blooms ever Spring and last Fall I noticed a few Fall blossoms but just dismissed it as an oddity but this year it has even more!
Is this normal and why is it producing blossoms now?

That certainly seems strange. I have no idea why it's doing that, but I hope someone has an idea.

Cottage Rose, there are 2 trees over by the golf course here that are in FULL bloom. I thought they were cherries but they could be Flowering Crabs. Hard to get a close look while driving on curvy back roads.

I plan to take a photo as soon as I find the darned charger for my camera that has a dead battery. Might be a neat photo juxtaposed against all the fall leaves!

Cottage Rose, we had similar experience last month. One of our crabs is loaded with gorgeous red 'apples' and a couple of the branches were blooming at the ends. Now I'm kicking myself that I didn't get a photo because the contrast of the red and deep pink blossoms was unique.

Hmmmm, I'm stillwondering why its blooming though???
Currently my crab tree is without most of its leaves since it is Fall and we've had some hard frosts but it has a sprinkling of blossoms. I should run out and take a pic.

Well here it is...my Autumn blooming Crab Tree with trees turning yellow in the background to prove I'm not pulling your leg. ;)
So anybody out there got any ideas yet?

It's not terribly uncommon...most times(but not always) brought on by a cold snap that fools the tree into thinking it's time to bloom.

Must be an interesting year.....just the other day my husband called me out to the yard to show me blooms on our Bing Cherry tree!

I finally found the charger for my camera and tomorrow I'll take photos of the flowering cherries here. Woodspirit1 took a couple today but she says her camera now leaves lines in the photos since she dropped it.

Melody we always get cold snaps this time of year so why would that make any difference?

Well I can understand things blooming this time of year in CA but Michigan???

Same here... we haven't even had frost yet so no real cold spell, yet these cherries are blooming.

It also has something to do with day length, but I'm not really up on the subject...just heard it discussed on TV once.

Here's one of the 2 cherry trees in bloom over by the golf course. Blooms were nicer a week ago but I didn't have my camera charged then.

What a gorgeous scene!

Well now I am not so worried. My Bradford pear tree was in bloom about 5 weeks ago and I was worried it wouldn't make it through the winter seeing as how confused it was! I think it might be just fine now. Thanks!
