Hey Lilypon, lookee what I got...

Castlegar, BC(Zone 6b)

Of course, now there is nothing to take photos of until spring :(

This is a photo of the Columbia River that runs right past our place. I walk the dog past here every day. I took this on Thursday. You like?

:D I like! :D Thank you for posting it Donna!

What a fantastic view......I'd be as eager as the dog to go for a walk just to see that everyday! When I've visited BC before I found I often would get by on 4 hours sleep.....hated to waste time that could be spent exploring.

I think it's wonderful that we can share pictures of what a members region/neighborhood looks like. It's much nicer seeing people's personal pictures than ones that a Province's promotional company have put together.

You've got a camera?????? (slow am I)

Castlegar, BC(Zone 6b)

Yeah, I thought you'd be so proud! lol

Moose Jaw, SK(Zone 3b)

Yippeee!!!!!!!! This is going to be great winter......love to see pics of snow on the mountains! :D Bet you can hardly wait until spring/summer rolls around.

What kind of digital camera did you get?

Castlegar, BC(Zone 6b)

Lol. This is hard to beleieve. My hubby came home from work last week with this little tiny digital camera called an "Innovage". Believe it, it's small enough to fit on a key chain. It came with a USB cable to connect to your PC. It only takes 20 high resolution pics at a time, or 82 low resolution. It's kind of a hoot. And a good toy to use until I get my "grown up one" for Christmas. :D

Moose Jaw, SK(Zone 3b)

lol.......it does the job!! BTW I really am enjoying your pic today.....grounds white, sky is grey and the prairie wind is a blowin' here today. :b

Castlegar, BC(Zone 6b)

Kinda soggy here. :( But not complaining...

Moose Jaw, SK(Zone 3b)

lolol...it is that time of year.

Ottawa, ON(Zone 5a)

Hi,
Thought I'd pop in here to say, what a great view, Donna!! Wowee. Like Pam, I'm looking forward to your photos this winter!
It is so great to see photos taken by people we know, of things that they saw & genuinely thought we'd find interesting, rather than some corporate slant....I love it! Even the most mundane shot would be interesting...and I can't say there've been any of those here. Please keep 'em coming.

OK, better put my photos where my mouth is...here's one from down the street, last week:

That river has many a story to tell! beautiful scene! Elaine

Castlegar, BC(Zone 6b)

Thanks Shannon and Elaine. Gotta love those Maples, Shannon. The Columbia River is very impressive, I agree, and never tire of looking at it. We moved here from Christina Lake, which is 3/4 of a drive from here over the Paulsen Pass, right on the border, straight north of Spokane. We had a lake view when we lived there. I loved it. Christina Lake is the most beautiful lake in B.C. in my opinion, but hubby's employment brought us here and Castlegar is a gorgeous place too, but the closest lake is 15 minutes away rather than accross the road. But as long as I can see any body of water at some point in the day, I'm happy. I think I should have been born under the sign of Aquarius!

Oh wow, I would love to have that river running behind our place. What an awesome view.

Moose Jaw, SK(Zone 3b)

Shannon what kind of tree is the one with the purple leaves? Are the Maples fully colored now?

Moose Jaw, SK(Zone 3b)

Meant to ask....Brugie are all your plants in?

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Oh gosh yes. Been in for two weeks at least, maybe more. Everything left out is now toast. Of course, after two bad nights, it hasn't frosted since and is supposed to be in the low seventies by the weekend. If it weren't for bad luck, I'd have no luck at all. How about you?

Moose Jaw, SK(Zone 3b)

snow :b lots n' lots of the wonderful stuff....cars not stopping, etc. And rain is expected to add to the fun! :S

Did you get all your favorites in?

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Yes, got them in and gave three trailers and three cars full away. Well, actually more than that. I had a friend who came out and took tons of brugs home with him after that. It's raining here right now. I have so much that needs to be done outside but it's been too cold.

Moose Jaw, SK(Zone 3b)

Pray for snow......it's a wonderful hider of deeds undone.

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Thanks Pam, but I think I'll hold out for 70 degrees and a yard man to do my dirty work. Snow will be here soon enough. I'm hearing warmer than usual and more snow than usual.

Moose Jaw, SK(Zone 3b)

I could use a Mike too! ;)

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

He would probably love to come up and work for you. Time for me to turn in tonight. Have a good one.

North Vancouver, BC(Zone 8a)

Apparently, it snowed on the Coque yesterday! (Coquihalla Hgwy)...........I woke up this morning, early morning, to a wind storm....windchimes throughout our garden, banging, binging and clanging! It has since quieted down, .........most often, trees have been blown down all around the North Shore! messy, and dangerous! E

Moose Jaw, SK(Zone 3b)

Winter seems to be arriving with a bang this year.

Moose Jaw, SK(Zone 3b)

Donna please take your digital the next time you go to Christina Lake.....I edited my post because I realized that was the lake where I saw the mushrooms. That area is lovely!

When we were cleaning up after the fire those were some of the pictures that we were able to salvage.

Castlegar, BC(Zone 6b)

I just happen to have a little collage of Christina Lake...

Moose Jaw, SK(Zone 3b)

Yep that is it.....very pretty area! We stayed in a log cabin that they had for rent and I remember my Dad left his car in neutral at a restaurant there...boy can a person run fast when their car is rolling away!

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 2b)

No more pretty little thingys on your messages please Donna. Just some more of your fab. pix. I love Christina Lake. Went through there at dawn in May, with mist rising off the lake. Just stopped and sat, it was so beautiful. Must have broken your heart to move. Can you swim in the Columbia there, or not?

Ginny in Manitoba. battening down the hatches. Snow any time.

Castlegar, BC(Zone 6b)

It did break my heart Ginny, but you gotta do what you gotta do. But it's only 74 km away, so we still see it a lot. Here's the thing, Christina Lake is a great place to retire to, but you have to be able to "walk the walk and talk the talk" with the lucky people who can afford to spend $500.000 for a lot (min) to live on the lake, pay mega $ for taxes to the BC government because you afford to buy a lot on the lake, and still be able to maintain a lifesyle where you can travel, golf, etc, while you live there. We just didn't fit in. Sad, but the truth. Maybe someday, we'll end up back there; but it won't be until we are...old, with money, and can afford to live in a Condo on the lake. (Which is not in existance there yet) But a beautiful lake. So clean and clear and so warm. It is the warmest, tree lined lake in Canada. We loved boating on Christina.

Can you swim in the Columbia? Well, you'd have to find a little secluded lagoon somewhere, otherwise the Columbia is full of rapids and is more for the adventurous river rafters and hardy canoeists (is that a word?) to venture out on. Very pretty though. Lots of Salmon, trout and bass.

Sigh, I'd rather think about spending my money on one of those gorgeous lilies you were talking about in the Lily forum. I would love one of those,"Sun God" or "Martagon" lilies. *sigh". To die for!

Good luck with that impending snow!

(ok, i am not putting one of "those pretty little thingys, just for you. :D)

OldFlowerGirl you have to adopt my approach to life. I just believe that every rich person needs a couple of really not so rich friends. I mean what is the good of them having multiple homes in wonderful locals if they can't invite (the rest of us) to enjoy with them. It is the only way I can afford to go to Cayman Islands, Provence, and sail. I used to feel beholden but now I realize it really makes them feel good - and it helps that I cook LOL

Castlegar, BC(Zone 6b)

LOL, right on!

Moose Jaw, SK(Zone 3b)

Trying to think of something here that would make jagonjune want to come visit .........(don't think having snow will do it).

Toronto, ON

I guess if I had to choose, I would rather live by a lake than the river but beautiful shots either way. You too Shannon. I guess I will join in the fun with a nice view of Lake Ontario from my house. I can actually see the lake from my property but the photo was taken just a short distance away to get a better view of the land and water together.

What a dreamy picture Grant.......it looks like a painting. :D

Edmonton, AB(Zone 3a)

WOW!

Ottawa, ON(Zone 5a)

Grant, the light in that photo is amazing!

Pam, sorry I missed your question the first time I read through this....the tree with the dark leaves is also a maple. I'm not sure what type (apparently there are around 600), but I'll try to ID it - it'll be good practice.

I just love everyone's photos. It's so neat to see different parts of the country. Please keep 'em coming!

Shannon

Castlegar, BC(Zone 6b)

Grant, what a gorgeous shot! Living by one of the "Great Lakes", would be awesome.
