I have this plant and it is absolutley beautiful! I had it just pop up this summer and it has grown to at least 6 ft. I also have another form of this plant " Amoaranthus Gangeticus" the red flowers look like elephant trunks instead of the tassels. I would like to know what I should do with them now as I would like them to come up again next year but in a different area. The place they popped up was right in front of my front porch area and kind of over took that part of the walk way. If anyone could tell me I would really appreciate it. Thanks : )

Hi hfrarey,

Before I forget to tell ya, check your D-Mail.

That's a pretty picture of your front walkway with a gorgeous amaranthus. You might try saving some seeds from the blooms. But I've not ever collected any so I can't tell you how. My guess is you just collect its blooms, let them dry out and then shake, or extract, the seeds from that.

Yours in the photo resembles amaranthus Candatus 'Velvet Curtains.' I took a picture of one at Penn State's Cooperative Extension trial garden site at State College, PA.
