Lots of Seed to trade

Muscoda, WI(Zone 4b)

"Seedpegs!" I love THAT! LOL And the idea of changing the bloom colors as easily as I do with my image editing....HOW FANTASTIC!! (Gee...that means I could make ALL my plants mature the FIRST season! We need to get this patented! :-D)

Seward, AK(Zone 3b)

We could compress the files and fit a lot more flowers in smaller beds! In fact, we could just germinate one plant and drag extra copies into a different file!

Kannapolis, NC(Zone 7b)

OHHHHH Good idea!!!!

Seward, AK(Zone 3b)

We could rejuvenate old seed by updating the file!

Muscoda, WI(Zone 4b)

Carole...has anyone ever told you that you have a GREAT imagination! HAHAHAHA
I *love* it! Keep thinking...I'm going to bed! I'll see what I can dream up. ;-)

~julie~

Seward, AK(Zone 3b)

Julie, speaking of dreaming. I once dreamed that one of my chores when I got up every morning was to boot up the computer and put my gardening folder on the desktop so it could get some light. I awoke excited, actually, in my stupor, thinking it might work! LOL!

Muscoda, WI(Zone 4b)

LOL Carole, I didn't dream up anything new but I've noticed lately that I do wake up and realize that I've been gardening all night long. Now *that's* dedication! :-)

Hey Marc! I was looking through the PDB yesterday and noticed that you had some Liatris. I can't remember which variety you posted a photo of...but if it's white I'd sure like a few seeds to winter sow.

~julie~

Seattle, WA(Zone 8b)

Sorry Julie...it's Blazing Star purple.

Muscoda, WI(Zone 4b)

Thanks Marc... ~HUGE GRIN HERE~ I just cleaned my seeds from *my* purple ones. You were right in your comment in saying they produce 1000's of seeds. :-D
Guess I could trade some too. ;-)

Oh...I just *had* to dig one up, even though they're hardy, I wanted to *see* what had happened underground while I wasn't looking. WOW! Do those things ever multiply!

JULIE88
You talked about emailing seeds why not fax them. That would be fun.

Muscoda, WI(Zone 4b)

2pugs...NOW you're talking! So much easier than compressing those files!
:-D

~julie~

Seward, AK(Zone 3b)

Faxing is no good... the seeds will get crushed in the rollers. You guys should think about this stuff before you start faxing seeds!

(Linda) Winfield, KS(Zone 6a)

Your right they would get crushed, when fax machines first came out I wondered how a person could send something on a machine, put it in and have it come out somewhere else, until I saw one work. I don't know where my brain was, it must of been on vacation and the rest of me wasn't. Sometimes I can be a little slow.

Muscoda, WI(Zone 4b)

Oooops! My mistake.
:-D

~julie~

Seattle, WA(Zone 8b)

Scan them and than attach the scanned 'seed file' to an email....just as easy as a fax and no crushed seeds. :-)

Seward, AK(Zone 3b)

That was my thought... thus the seedpeg attachment, rikerbear. We could enter these files into Excel for inventory, and with the right software, we could delete from the inventory and automatically mail out seeds...what a deal!

Muscoda, WI(Zone 4b)

Hmmmm...I was thinking "morphing" software. That would get them to grow nicely...and we could even watch! :-)

~julie~

Seattle, WA(Zone 8b)

ooooooHHHHHHHH Morphing would be awesome! I could finally grow Purple Brugmansia on my Butterfly Bushes LOL

Muscoda, WI(Zone 4b)

LOL SEEEE! I KNEW we could do something interesting with the morphing stuff! (I like the brug blooms better anyway! :-D )

~julie~

Seattle, WA(Zone 8b)

My how this thread has changed since first I started it. :-)

(Linda) Winfield, KS(Zone 6a)

Remember Rikerbear you posted you were going to wait a while before offering your seeds, so we are just trying to keep you busy and intertained until the time comes.

Seattle, WA(Zone 8b)

Oh I'm not complaining.....just commenting on the odd turn the thread has taken. :-)

Muscoda, WI(Zone 4b)

LOL Marc! You noticed!
(Good thinking 2pugs! :-D )

~julie~

(Linda) Winfield, KS(Zone 6a)

I know you weren't complaining rikerbear, but we are having fun. AREN'T WE.

Seward, AK(Zone 3b)

rikerbear, have you got all your seeds harvested by now? I've gotten most of mine and even have most of them packaged up for trade. I've been busy updating my tradelist, but have quite a few more to add. How about you? (nice subject change, eh?)

Kannapolis, NC(Zone 7b)

Wow Weezingreens! You are bookin'!

I am still working on mine myself. Between the kid, dogs, DH, oh and this durn JOB. It's taking away from my seed cleaning/trading time! Marc, you keep saving those 'you know what's' for me!!! LOL (can't say the name b/c you will all want some! hee hee)

Merced, CA(Zone 9a)

Omg. How long has that "Add to my trade list" option been there?? LOL!! Thanks, Carole!!

Seward, AK(Zone 3b)

Ladyannne... Dave just makes it so easy for us here in the Garden! It takes me longer to find the pictures to add than it does to make the entry!

I hear you, NC. Since the garden is my job, even the seed trading is sort of part of my work... well, that's what I tell myself and my DH. I've had to set aside the seed sorting and packaging for the last few days while I complete to the outdoor chores. We've hired someone to help me put things away. Today we'll be cleaning the garage and raking leaves, I think. I'm going to be relieved to get this all done and everything buttoned up for the winter.

Kannapolis, NC(Zone 7b)

Hey Carol, when you are ready for a break this winter come on down! I will get the guest room ready! The ocean's only about 3 hours away! :0)

Seattle, WA(Zone 8b)

I think I have all the seeds collected that I care to for the year.....maybe a few more hyacinth beans, and 4 0'Clocks..............
Haven't even started on a trade list yet, not even sure if I will as I am horrible at keeping it updated.

NC I have your B&B salvia seed saved, and am checking daily for a few more (10 just isn't enough)

Kannapolis, NC(Zone 7b)

Cool!!! When you are close to ready let me know! I can e-mail all that I have also - maybe we can do a bigger trade! hmmmm Hyacinth beans.... Homer Simpson slobber noise...

Nicole

Castro Valley, CA(Zone 9a)

I found this feature to see how to to do this THANG, I hadnt had time to put trade list together, so I just input some!!! BUT WAIT YOU GUYS, here WE plant in the FALL!!!! so seeds are apreciated now and in Spring, sigh...

Seattle, WA(Zone 8b)

Oh okay Hanna.....I'll post my seed list later today for your perusal :-)

Seattle, WA(Zone 8b)

Here ya go Hanna. This is a short list of what I could think of off the top of my head.....I know there are others, and I'll add them as I go/remember.

Trade or SASE:

Anise Hyssop
4 0'Clocks (yellow)
Hyacinth Bean Vine
President Tyler Morning Glory
Blanket Flower (Indian Blanket)
Liatris (Blazing Star 'Prairie')
Lrg White Datura
Lilac LeFluer Datura
Moon Vine (Alba)

Muscoda, WI(Zone 4b)

Marc, do your 4 o'clocks come true to the yellow from seed? I had four plants this year, two yellow and two magenta. I was surprised to see "broken" colors blooming on the same plant that was magenta. So when I gathered my seeds, I just mixed them up.

(Can I have a few of those Moon Vine seeds? purty please? It'll be SASE cuz I don't have much else to offer.)

~julie~

Seattle, WA(Zone 8b)

Can't answer you about the 4's, as this was my first year with them. All flowers were solid yellow, and I had no other color 4's in the garden, so maybe they will...................
I will reserve you a few of the moon vine seeds.
My address is in the Addy Exchange....just send me a SASE of $.49

(Carole) Cleveland, TX(Zone 9a)

My Yellow 4 o'clocks do come true from seed. They self-seed and all the new ones have the same pretty yellow blooms.

Hanna, I'd like to THINK my trade list here is up-to-date... help yourself. LMK what you're interested in and I'm sure we can work something out. What kinds of things are you growing now?

~ Carole

Muscoda, WI(Zone 4b)

Thanks Marc. Thanks Carole. Marc, I'll put that trade in my tracker...these days I've got a tendency to forget anything that's not written down...and confusing the things that are! :-D (Thanks again!)

~julie~

Seward, AK(Zone 3b)

NC, thanks for the invite. One of these days, I might actually leave the state of Alaska, but I'm pretty deeply entrenched!

Hanna, check my tradelist. It's mostly updated, just a few things to add.

Kannapolis, NC(Zone 7b)

Me too Hanna! Check mine out - I don't think it will be changing much.

Nicole
