gordonhawk - just got around to letting you know how much i enjoy seeing the pics of your containers. i was born in brooklyn, in the bushwick section on himrod street which was between central and evergreen ave. are you familiar with htat area?

Plano, TX(Zone 8a)

Hi Gordon. Love the inside shot as well. I tried to start a cutting of Plumeria this summer but it didn't make it. I think it just got too much water. Will your roof be bare for the winter or do you have some things that will make it out there?

Herbie.. 43.. Well Thanks.. welcome home to Brooklyn.. can you recognise it as the one you know from my photos.. I'm lightly familar with that area.. off the Interborough now the Jackie Robinson Parkway.. I would sometimes play golf outthat way at Forest Park..
Trunnels.. Yes.. they are very sencitive to too much water at ttheir start.. I use no saucers at first so rain doesn't contribute more than I wish them to have then.. give it another try.. they have a real active plumie society in Tx with lots of gareden tours and sales.. Lots of things are wintering over up on the roof.. a dozen or so roses.. some blooming awaiting tonights first light freeze.. a few pines and a cyperss a couple af Japaneese maples.. a few diffrent bamboos a bunch of blue rug junipers.. and the inground bulbs.. and the lawn .. the butterfly bush and lilacks.. well what's blooming inside now.. christmas cactus.. plumerias .. a few diffrent brugmansias.. and the bouganvilla.. posted is the double white Brug

this Brug is Milk & Honey I believe.. the aroma of these blooming inside is a real blast of summer.. sweet and thick.. I've alot of buds and flowers getting ready.. it's a toos up between letting them go and bloom and sending out cuttings and wacking them back for dormancy and keeping them alive.. growing.. flowering and developing their seedpods that have already set.. Keeping them flowering most allways wins out... Gordon

But all of the flowers aren't inside now.. there's the Thanksgiveing rose.. outside and in the freezing rain.. foilage still looks like it's spring .. could it be the spraying with messenger a little too late in the year.. some great stuff it is indeed..

a new plumeria.. I can't imagined I asked for a yellow.. but it must have been a mystery or free cutting along with an order.. a new plumeria flowering.. now that it's ready.. still as lovely as ever.. and the fragerance inside isn't lost in the wind.. my dinning companion.. Plumeria a la white.. Gordon

Gordon, I love your roof top garden! It is amazing how many different things you can grow there. I am going to try dahlias in pots next summer for the first time. Some of the ones I've ordered are the tall 4-5 foot ones. Have you grown them in pots? I'm wondering about the size of pots to put them in.
