Another picture this evening of Amber Rose X Butterfly.
Amber Rose X Butterfly
That's a bad picture. I need a new and better camera.
Oh, Ada, let me tell you they are here, they are every place here. There were absolutely zero bugs 'one' day, then I was overrun by a variety of bugs that seemed to all appear at the same time. Only now I know that the broad mites were here early on, but I didn't realize the danger and I had no idea that they are invisible and i didn't spray often enough and now, I realize I didn't use the correct spray. I started with Avid, thinking it would kill 'anything'. But, I learned my lesson and you can bet that I will never, ever sit around waiting for bugs to attack. I will, #1, make sure everything I winter inside is debugged before it comes in, and the minute my garden is up next spring, one of my primary concerns will be to keep my garden free of bugs and every new brug that comes here will be quarantined, tho I do not believe any plants I have received brought bugs to Arky, I think they were 'gifted' when they arrived. I know that wintering the brugs is the primary concern at this time, but I look forward to a bug thread for bringing brugs out in the spring...as many bugs as I've had so far, if we don't get a really cold winter, I expect the same bugs to be lurking in the spring, ya think???
I use Avid and it works okay for me with mites, but only mites. It doesn't work on aphids or white flies at all and I think it is supposed to work on aphids. As with any spray, you should only use it three times and then switch to something else. I've now switched to an Ortho product that is working very well. It is systemic and the white flies are slowly decreasing in numbers. I'd love to be rid of all bugs before bringing plants in the house, but I don't think that is going to happen with a freeze on the way tomorrow night. I'll just be lucky to get stuff inside.
LOL Sherry, they can get ahead of you fast. With all the rains we've had, it's hard to spray. It gets washed right off. LOL
Great pics Ada. And I really adore the shape of Mango Crush also. I just love brugs............LOL
Mango Crush is one of my very favorite brugs. Thanks for posting your pics Ada.
Jeremiah
Thanks Kell and Jeremiah.
Wow, Shirley. A freeze already. I don't want to think of freezing weather yet. LOL I really expect an early frost with all the crazy weather we've had this year.
We still have work to do on the greenhouses before I can't move any plants in either of them
I'm sitting here this morning looking out at rain and lots of wind. I don't know how I'm going to be able to get things in with this kind of weather. Will bring in the two doubles for sure, my pots of cuttings, and hope for the best if the weather doesn't give me a chance to get the rest under cover.
Speaking of bugs, I have a question. I am rooting some brug cuttings in water mixed with a little hydrogen peroxide, which has worked very well for me. I have some Dr. D cuttings that right after I received them all except 1 rotted. I have been trying to root that one, but I noticed this morning that the whole bottom of it was rotted as well. I took it out of the water to throw it away and noticed some tiny little black creatures crawling out of the cutting. They looked liked very tiny little black leeches. YUK! Does anyone know what in the world they are?

Have no idea, but it doesn't sound pretty.
Wow, Slyvia. I've never seen anything like that.
Shirley, hope your weather clears up. It looks like it's going to rain here any minute. Did you send it to my house? LOL
Ada, if you can find the Dipel dust, it works for the cats, but if it's raining a lot, you will have to reapply. We are having another wave of green cats too. They just appeared overnight seems like. I think they know when the brugs are full of buds!
Thanks, Susie. I'll check around for it. I think I have the Dipel liquid.
Sylvia, I have never seen that either. I hope they did not spread.
I am full of cats also. Big green ones and little tiny green ones. I can't figure out how they arrive, 1 in the center of each brug. I doubt they crawl up!
Poor Brugie, your weather still leaves much to be desired. Here it is just beautiful. I need it to be great for 1 more month to get all my seedlings to bloom. Then it can get bad.
It is pouring here now and I can't get out to finish putting things inside. I still have a bunch of seedlings from Monika's seeds and about three more big ones to get inside. Then there are the ears and other tropicals. Some things will just have to croak. No way do I have time to get it all in.
Brugie SAVE YOUR BRUGS I may need some seeds or cuttings *LOL*
Oh my that is gorgeous, I just love that color!! Great job!!
If it stays wet they may not get all the damage you would if it was clear....
Wish I could help you
Thanks Karyn. It has quit raining, but it is very cold and windy. I'm sure glad the important stuff is inside the two garages. Not put away yet for the winter, but at least safe.
Ada, I didn't see this one! Wowzer! What a beautiful color!
Somebody said that's the icing on the cake? Wouldn't that be a fitting name for it?
'So glad you have such a beautiful one!
Thanks. I can't wait to see what it does next year.
Just checking to see what happened to this one, I am also growing this one and curious about how yours turned out this year?
Sheesh ,
all my pictures are bad having to borrow a camera for a few minutes then run the storage card to WalMart [25 mile round trip] to get them transerred to CD.
This really bites! I have no idea if the pic needs to be re-taken like when I had my own camera and could check right away.
Oh well, crummy pics are better than none I guess.
OK , Pity -party is over
Scoot, it's such a rough life.LOL If my daughter in law hadn't broken my other one, I'd send it to you. (She braks everything she touches LOL) I've really taken some crummy pics this year. I usually cut half of it off or something. Then it depends on what day the bloom is taken as to how dark or light it is. I'm glad I don't have to take them someplace to download them
Those pictures from last year look so fake. I don't remember which program was on the old computer that I used but the bloom does look different this year than from last.. I have another Brug cross that bloomed orange last year and it's yellow this year. Good thing we have to grow them two year.

Yes Ada, mine bloomed, I added a thread on here too, didn't want to add mine onto yours to avoid any confusion, did you find it, will go there and look.............
Laurrie
Laurrie, I thought I had sent you one to grow in your area with the others I sent.
Ada that is VERY possible, I have several with your name on them, but this one did not, which is why I couldn't for the life of me remember who/where it came from. It had to be you then!!!
Thanks, Laurrie. I had thought I had sent you one to trial.
Sooooooo glad you knew!! Because I didn't - it's lovely and I am proud to be growing it!! sent you d-mail :)
editing to add the link to my pictures of your beauty!!!!!!!!! http://davesgarden.com/forums/t/545606/

I had one of these too and unfortunately, it bloomed while I was unable to get around and get a picture, but it looked like the picture posted here on Sep 17, 2005 at
8:57 PM. It bloomed well. I could see it from the bedroom window. Thank you Ada, for letting me trial one of your seedlings. I do feel that the one I had was so much like others that it would be best not to release it.
