Thanks for the compliments, ladies. I'm glad you enjoy them. I just have fun taking them.

Gorgeous! Violas are great, aren't they? So enthusiastic.
Nice to see your lovely violas, Echoes. We are long past any sort of blooms here, except the Christmas cactus in the house who are responding to our short days and overcast weather! We've been in winter mode for about three weeks now.
Very pretty, echoes. It's so nice to forget the blahs of November and the thoughts of winter coming when you see cheerful little bloosoms like Violas. There tenacity has always astonished me. The pretty little critters can grow anywhere, in any conditions, I swear. We have them growing and spreading in the cracks of our driveway and around rocks in nothing moe than cement and sand. They are amazing!
So pretty echoes and seeing them makes me think spring should be here........oh what a dreamer am I.
They will probably be the first little blossom peeking out of the snow in April too. Oh let's be optimistic. March, they'll be back in March. Right Pam? I think winter starts tomorrow here.
Let's aim for March......I can't bear the thought of another winter like last year!!! Heck we never even had a summer, this is just a continuation of the misery. :'(
OK you guys, pull yourselves together!!! What are any visiting "Murrican" friends gonna think if they peek into this thread? They'll think we are a pathetic, snivelling bunch, that's what. We should be rejoicing about our clean (albeit very fresh!) and unpolluted air. Our gorgeous mountains and clear streams, lakes and rivers. Spring will come, like it's always done. We may get the odd chinook to remind us what it will really be like! But it will eventually come. So shape up!! We have Christmas to look forward to, right? Cheer and good will to men and all that other good stuff. Then it will be January...then maybe we can complain a little, but by then we will only have 3 little, short months and then it's off to tropical Vancouver Island!!! Whoo Hoo!!! and then when we get home, it'll be Spring and we'll be able to spend countless hours in the garden again....sorry, I got carried away again..., but don't you feel a little bit better?
Nope
......you had a summer Donna.
Hey, why me?
Come on, you guys. You get heat. Here our summers are seldom above 70 degrees and it rains from July til the bitter end. Buck up!
You tell 'em, Weezi!
LOL......we live with -60F temps on occassion tho' Weeze. We need the plus 90F weather so that we can look forward to the cooler, colder KILLER temps!
Donna, that was very well put - can I call you whenever I'm having a bad day? :-)
LOL......she sure did put a positive spin on it tho' didn't she! ;)
We live in the best d... country in the world; we have the best d... garden website in the world and we're goin have the best d... roundup in the world. This is goin to be some spring.
by the way the POD catalogue came this week and I hid it on myself.
Hear, hear! Hmm...I've tried that with chocolate bars from time to time...not much success. :-)
I'm way more like the squirrels so it works for me. hope I don't find it til its too late to order. Spent wayyyyy too much money with them last year.
Duh, clueless garden nerd here...what's POD?
Plants of Distinction!
I didn't know either, Donna! :-)
Well, obviously, I 'm not a gardener of distinction, 'cause I suppose I should have known that. There goes my chance of ever being a UBER!!
So it's November 20, I took my cheap little pocket digital out in the sunshine a while ago to see what could possibly be still alive after a -4 low last night. Our coldest yet! Brrrr
First this little Viola, growing basically out of the truck of a tree.
not a speller of distinction either!!!

Are you trying to make us low zoners cry??? ......for some reason seeing things bloom in Florida is not as hard to bear. ;)
They're great, Donna...I'm glad somebody has blooms!
That does it... I'm putting on my coat and boots, grabbing my camera & a shovel, and digging down in the snow until I find something blooming!
You may be digging til spring Weez LOL
LOL! Good luck Weez! :)
Go, Weez! :-D Hey, you could always take an indoor flowering plant & stick it in the snow for a minute or two to grab the shot....see who'd catch on!
This picture was taken on April Fools day four years ago, but it still works! I was going to take a picture out there today, but by the time I ate lunch, the sun was down! LOL!
Oh Weez, such beautiful blooms. We are all so envious...:D
Why, thank you OFG! I just knew I could find some little ol' flowers if I looked around a bit. I'll bet they'll be blooming there all winter if I don't pick them!
LOL, no doubt about it! I bet even our Roselaine is just green with envy right now.
