I have a snail vine rooting in water and it has three roots formed about 2 inches long. Should I plant it now , or let it get more roots?? Any help will be greatly appreciated. Lou
rooting in water???
Lou- I just did the same only I left it in the water too long and most of the roots broke off but I threw it in a pot anyway. : ) Always the optimist!
Be interesting to see if anyone can tell you (and I) whats hould be done here.
I know it is too late to try this now, but if you like rooting in water, try putting some perlite in the glass or jar and it will act like soil and the roots will grow through it and be stronger when you are ready to pot up in soil. Just a suggestion that works for me.
Thanks for hint. I have some perlite and vermiculite . I will try this . Lou
When I rooted a honeysuckle in water, I waited for the roots to get about 2 1/2 to 3 inches long and it did great. I then transplanted it outdoors (early fall of last year) and it survived the winter (I mulched it with pine needles).
