I found big plastic pots at the Dollar General Store here for $6.00. I couldn't resist because I also plant plumbagos in them. The plumbagos are in full bloom and are almost as big as that brug. They are quite a sight themselves.
You're right, Yumiko, I gave that brug everything it wanted to make it grow, and I think fertilizing it every 3 days probably did the trick. I read the advice on the brug forum regularly and if someone suggested something, I tried it. I still think it was probably some luck involved. lol

Linda, just got online this evening, Friday, and I see you have forum photo of the day. Wow and you did get it posted. Wonderful , wonderful. Ladies and Gents. of Dave's Garden this lady has one gorgeous acreage/garden. Hope she posts lots more pictures. Got your mail today too.
Hard not to love a brug like this! Congratulations!
Thanks again for all your very helpful information. I hope to see you posting a lot more at DG!
I'm going to try growing one or two of my Brugs through the wintertime outdoors. I'll let everyone know if they survive and re-bloom next summer.
Keep your fingers crossed!
It was great to hear from you Joann. I hope everything's going well out in Mt. Angel. My bulbs you gave me arrived yesterday. I'm going to put them out pretty soon. I thought I'd include a picture of the plumbago (one of three) and a large bronze leaf begonia I have in my garden. I've really enjoyed them this summer. Thanks again everyone!!!
Wow, what a nice place to sit. Love the plumbago.
I just thought I would check to see if you were able to winter-over this wonderful Brug??

LGW728, I love your huge brug, what a wonderful job you have done!!! I know what you mean about winter, and I expect that some year that all such plants will be lost. That's okay, that will be the year that I look for new and different ones that I haven't grown. Regardless of what we do, there is no way we can change the temperatures, if there was, I would have already taken ten degrees away from summer and divided them between fall and winter...
Judy and Sherry- I did manage to weather over (outside in the ground) a cutting from this plant. The cutting is now about 18 inches high and is about to make a Y. I knew it would not grow as well as the one in the flower pot, but it was too difficult to take care of that one again. From June on to frost, it used about 5 gallons of waters every 6 hours. Needless to say, that almost killed me so I'm opting for a slower growing one in the ground. I did really enjoy the big one though! It was a sight to behold!
