Non-member trading.

Brookeville, MD(Zone 7a)

Aww! Thanks Kbads.

I'm all for giving people a chance but it definally makes sense for you to send after receiving your end. That way, if some one really had bad intentions, they'd have to give in order to receive.

Good luck with your trading! I hope you don't come across any negative trading experiences.

Northeast, WA(Zone 5a)

I really want you all to know that I received, for free, something better than seeds or plants. It was information, advice, suggesstions, etc. etc. All freely given by Capt.Micha. I am sure she Knew I was a newbie, and she suggested ways to get the priority boxes, which you all probably now, for free, packaging, s&h.

She offered that just by happening upon an offer of plants I made. I really appreciated it.

Well, as a two-day -old newbie here I was asked for something I'd posted a photo of, packed it right away and sent it. That was three months ago, and I've never received mine.
Live and learn.

jperlilloux...that is *very* sad, and I'm sorry that happened to you.

I've been here for only a few months myself. It took me quite a while to even get to the point where I would ask for something...I worried that I might forget something critical (like sending postage for the SASE trades ;-))

It sounds to me like you're a great 'newbie' and one I'd be happy to trade with any time!

JP, I'm an older member (in more ways than one), and I've got lots of seeds. I'll gladly trade with you anytime. I've had a few bad experiences, but some of the others were so good, it all averaged out. You'll establish your own sense for trading, along with your own rules. It just takes sticking your toe in the water... sometimes it's warm, sometimes it's cold... you never know until you try!

Julie, I hope you have gotten over worrying about such things! If any new trader forgets postage, asks for too much, etc, etc, it is up to the person you've asked to let you know... in a nice way, I hope. I've done that before... not to hurt anyone's feelings, but to help them have better trades in the future. We all have to start somewhere, and we've all had help along the way. I think many of the seasoned traders believe in 'paying forward'. That's a good way to keep the trader 'gene pool' fresh!

Seattle Burbs, WA(Zone 8b)

Good point Weezin, I truly believe in "paying it forward" , it really does work. jperilloux, I do hope you will try again, there are a lot of good and reputable traders here at Dave's Garden!

Carmel, NY(Zone 6b)

Just an update - I've had wonderful success with all of my trades so far, and have met some wonderful people, to boot - 2 in person, which was super! (Can't have too many plants or too many pals!)

Seward, AK(Zone 3b)

That's so good to hear, Sequee! There are so many good folks in the Garden, that it is easy to forget it looks like a real box of chocolates to the few folks out there that take advantage. To Dave's credit, he keeps an eye out for problems and takes action only when all other avenues have been exhausted. I know you're going to get along fine here.

You lucky dog! Two DGers in person! I know three DGers, but only because I got them to join! Alaska is pretty far away from everywhere to go to roundups or just visit. I figure somebody will make it up my way one of these days and stop by for a visit.

Carmel, NY(Zone 6b)

Maybe you and alaska_rick could have a mini-round-up! He seems like a great guy - terrific trader and great communicator, too!

I keep threatening to go back - if I ever make the trip, I'll let you know!

Seward, AK(Zone 3b)

You do that, Sequee! Yes, I've forgotten where Rick lives. The state of Alaska is pretty big, you know!

Carmel, NY(Zone 6b)

He's in Juneau, I'd be visiting Anchorage - but hey..that's what planes are for!

Seward, AK(Zone 3b)

Juneau is a flight for us, as well. There are no roads to Juneau. It's a lovely spot, but a bit rainy. I've only been there once, and that was back in 1978 or 79. I don't get around much! LOL! Actually, Rick is closer to Washitonians than me. http://www.lonelyplanet.com/mapshells/north_america/alaska/alaska.htm

Carmel, NY(Zone 6b)

Cool! Thanks for the map. I lived in Anchorage and Kodiak as a child - my parents took alot of great photos - very beautiful! (Pretty short growing season, though!)

Thanks, again!

Seward, AK(Zone 3b)

I'm prejudiced, I suppose, but I think Seward is prettier than Kodiak or Anchorage... I guess it's just what person becomes accustomed to. We are surrounded by mountains here, and situated on the tip of Resurrection Bay. We get lots of rain, so it is very green here during our short summer.
