I have received a couple of Emails feeding Water Lilies.

Santa Fe, TX(Zone 9b)

This is how we do it:
Step one, obtain an Aluminun tube, any size above 1/2 inch should do. Get a length that will reach the most distant Lily you wish to reach. 10 feet would be the most anyone could handle. Then get a Dowel or a smaller pipe that will slide down inside the first. If necessary saw off about 4 inches of the first so the second will be longer. Plug the end of the second pipe with a cork or whatever is handy.

Carefully push the first pipe under the desired plant, very gently so you won't cut roots. A little side to side wiggle will help. Usually 4 to 6 inches will be about right.

Drop the fertilizer, plant spike, manure or whatever into the first pipe.

Insert the second pipe into the first and gently push the fertilizer out of the first tube. I use a band of tape on the second pipe to control the depth of insertion.

I can't believe that I didn't think of that! DUH! I had just given up on feeding mine! But, they aren't suffering in the least, but are blooming like crazy! Not sure that I should jinx it!

Thanks for the tip!

LOL. Engineers think of easy ways to do things, for themselves.
