If necessary saw off about 4 inches of the first so the second will be longer. Plug the end of the second pipe with a cork or whatever is handy. Carefully push the first pipe under the desired plant, very gently so you won't cut roots. A little side to side wiggle will help. Usually 4 to 6 inches will be about right. Drop the fertilizer, plant spike, manure or whatever into the first pipe. Insert the second pipe into the first and gently push the fertilizer out of the first tube. I use a band of tape on the second pipe to control the depth of insertion. |
