ZZTOPSOIL, got your envy and thank you for all those seeds you sent me... will pack it and probably get it out today, but if not, it will certainly be in tomorrow's mail.
Looking for Jack Bean/canavalia ensiformis & have SASE seeds
Gourd, would you happen to have any rudabeckia seeds? I saw a yellow flower fading into a reddish center. Out standing!
Will have to get my seed catalogs out.

Maxine, I have to check and see if I had any left from last year, did not collect any this year. Also, the only ones I think I had are Hirta all yellow.
nanner55, got your SASE on Sat., your seeds are going out Monday morning..
I have hirta. Will just have to order the seed in the spring.
Thanks for looking and answering my enquiry.

Forgive me if I sound like a complete dingaling, but is there someone here LOOKING for Jack Bean (Hyacinth Bean) Vine seeds? If so, I have some for SASE.
Hugs,
~ Carole (a.k.a. Dingbat)
lol.. Carole, that's alright, I probably should have done two separate postings. I was looking for Jack Bean canavalia ensiformis, (Was not looking for Hyacinth Bean/Dolichos Lablab). Apparently there are two types of the Jack Bean (one with white bean seeds, the other with Pink bean seeds). Thank you for reading this long post thread. Sorry for the confusion.
Hey Carole--Gourd was looking for the Jack Bean seeds. Jack Bean seeds are not Hyacinth Bean vine seeds. Jack Beans are vines with 12" or more length bean pods and the seeds are big. DonnaB showed some great pics of them in a post above. They are very unique and interesting bean pods to see being that large in size.
Ahhh thank you for the information! I originally bought my (and I quote) "Jack Bean Vine" seeds from a local mom and pop nursery. They showed me the vine they came from and it was definitely the Hyacinth Bean Vine. Thus my confusion as a result of misinformation.
And I must say I'm a tad embarrassed that I didn't read the WHOLE post so I didn't see DonnaB's pictures (I need to watch that in the future).
Gourd - received the seeds you sent. Thanks so much! :)
I think that I've mailed everyone's seeds.. If anyone does not receive them by the end of this week, please let me know. Don't want to leave anyone out. A
I received your seeds a while ago, sent you private email at that time. Thanks for the seeds.

Antoinette, Received my very generous packets of seeds last Friday. Spent the weekend getting a new flower bed ready for planting this fall so that why you are just now getting this message. Thank you for sharing your seeds with a new gardener. AB
You all are very welcome, glad you could use them. Antoinette
What Donna has shown is actually a Sword Bean (Canavalia gladiata). You can tell the two apart by the pods, since the Sword Bean has a very heavy, thick pod that has double ridges running down the spine, and Jack Beans tend to be more slender and thin. Sword Beans look like giant kidney beans on steroids, whereas Jack Beans are a little smaller and white. The person I got these from last year told me when her pods dried, she had to get a hammer to break them! LOL
Here's a photo of my freshly harvested Sword Beans.
Stacey those are exactly what I planted. Huge red beans

Replied to your e-mail, please check your member page for it. Click under the tab "mail" and sent you my address for the SASE.
Donna and Stacey, those are neat beans.. they are big, I saw your pod on another post, wow, that pod was huge.
I've been averaging about 10 beans per pod. The last two waiting to come off the vine have less. Considering that of two beans, only one made it, I'm more than happy with my returns!
