Snowbank tonight...

Medford, NJ(Zone 6b)

The blooms are so pretty. The foliage- well it stinks...

The foliage looks beautiful to me as well. How in the world did you ever get it that big? Mine purchased in January is still only about a foot tall.

Lima, OH(Zone 5a)

Gorgeous plant, beautiful foliage. You should see mine!!

Harrisville, MI(Zone 5b)

Dang,I gotta have a talk with mine.

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

I don't even want to say anything about mine. It hasn't grown at all since last fall. One very ugly brug and probably one that I won't keep this year. No signs of it doing anything. It bloomed last fall and has the same Y's on the plant. I'm very disappointed in this one. Yours looks wonderful Kristi. I can easily say it is the best looking one that I've seen.

Harlem, GA(Zone 8a)

datdog gorgeous wow!

Mount Hermon, LA(Zone 8b)

Beautiful dispaly Datdog! I am going to print the picture and hold it up in front of my Snowbank and say to it, "Now aren't you ashamed of yourself?" LOL. Thanks for sharing the picture.

Adrian, MI(Zone 5b)

You must have the magic touch! It is beautiful! Mine's pathetic! What's your secret?

GOD's Green Earth, United States(Zone 8b)

That's just beautiful! Mine like several other people's here, has not grown at all, and just looks terrible...what are you feeding that thing???

Medford, NJ(Zone 6b)

Thanks. The only thing I can figure is it grew last season because of the pond water/plants/scum mixture I would throw on it every couple of days. It really hasn't gotten any larger this season but has thrown out lots of suckers. Of course this year it didn't get any special treatment. I find it burns for me no matter where I put it. Terra Nova should have tested this plant better before it was released. I was very luck and thankful I paid 5.00 for it thanks to AnnaZ. I couldn't imagine paying a lot of money and it growing like it does.

GOD's Green Earth, United States(Zone 8b)

Well, it sure does do well for you! I am beginning to think that maybe its just too hot here for it to grow. Mine has never y'd and puts on about one new leaf a month, and loses one at the same time, so it always looks pretty pitiful LOL! And, yes I agree. The plant should have been tested, trialed more than it evidently was... Thankfully they're not all like this one (at least in my case)...

Brooklyn, NY(Zone 7b)

My snowbank.. this is the first of the blooms from the falls cutting... boy the catapillars do like this one... of all of the ones I have.. and it's got to be the hardest of the brugs to spot them on.. Gordon

Milo, IA(Zone 5a)

Datdog: That is one gorgeous brug in bloom.
I lost mine this past winter, needless to say, I won't be replacing it.
She is too fickle.

Crestview, FL(Zone 7b)

that is gorgeous.. Mine is growing.. but hasn't Y'd.. hoping it will do something before the snow flies

Barnesville, GA(Zone 8a)

Well, I think it's a beauty too.
And I can't even get my Maya to do anything, it's the slowest darn brug I've ever seen!

Lima, OH(Zone 5a)

Gretchen: It must be too cold for it here, temps 66 daytime 50's nights. Mine is less than 1' tall, bought from Anna Z. same as Kristi.......what are WE doing wrong?? Have no fish/pond " water" here, gotta get a fish pond!

GOD's Green Earth, United States(Zone 8b)

Gloria - I feed mine liquid seaweed along with a bunch of other goodies...its the only one I have that has not grown an inch all summer!

GH - what a view you have!

Medford, NJ(Zone 6b)

Great picture Gordon.
Gloria you need that fish pond. IIt's the fish poop I tell ya.
Viola are you sure you have Maya and not Peaches and Cream? My maya grows very quickly and blooms several times during the summer. Do you want some cuttings off of my plant? Debby I wouldn't replace it either.
I'll be keeping my fingers crossed MzMunchken. By the way, are you safe from the storm? Be careful.

Columbia, SC(Zone 8a)

Mine is not growing much either and I've never had a bloom. I probably have it in too much shade to keep it from burning.

Victoria, BC(Zone 8b)

I got 2 snowbanks from the nursery about a month ago. They have really filled out, and grown maybe 3-4" in height. I haven't noticed any stink tothe foilage. When I got them, I didn't know which they prefered, sun or shade, so one was kept on my covered deck, which is more ike a greenhouse, and the other has out in the yard, and got afternoon shade. The one that was on the deck was growing quicker and looked much happier. They both are on the deck now. I'll have to have a talk with them, tell them not to be so finicky as the other snowbanks you have spoken about here.

Those look great MG! They evidently like your clime!

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

Kristi very pretty! Mine is doing OK, reminds me of Maya alot. I neglected it and left it in a 4 inch pot forever. Every since I moved it up, it has been growing quite well in full sun. No burn yet!

MG99, they look great!

The Heart of Texas, TX(Zone 8b)

That's beautiful datdog! So healthy looking and I bet it smells good.

Harlem, GA(Zone 8a)

Shoot Datdog!!! I do! lol

North Vancouver, BC(Zone 8b)

Hearing all this talk of lack of growth I'm wondering if Terranova treated them with growth inhibitors.
Mine has grown, Y'd and had a couple of bloom flushes but it's about 4ft tall. It gets bright light but absolutely no direct sun or it browns.

Tonasket, WA(Zone 5a)

I'm happy with my Snowbanks. The one I bought last summer had a nice flush of blooms 6 weeks or two months ago. Has 6 or 7 seed pods hanging, but no more blooms. Is that because it is trying to ripen the seed pods, and how long does it take for the pods to ripen. I made two cuttings early this spring and they are both growing nicely. All three are in sun, the one with the seed pods is at east end of my greenhouse and does have shade from about 2:00 pm on. I love the foliage, never noticed a repulsive odor from the foliage.

Datdog, I think yours looks great, really good bloom flush. Donna

Raleigh, NC(Zone 7b)

Datdog, that is the most impressive specimen of Snowbank I have ever seen! I guess the secret to growing this brug successfully is to water it with pond scum? I never noticed any odor from my Snowbank's foliage because the bugs left so little of it.

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

LOL Tom!

Actually, though Kristi's is superb, I recall Alice posting one from her GH that was fantastic also! I still think the foliage is very special on this one!

Houston, TX(Zone 9b)

Dat, I think that's a great photo. You can tell the foliage is a little browned on the edges, but not enough to ruin the pic. Very nice - can't wait unitl mine gets that nice!

Freedom, PA(Zone 6a)

Wow, your snowbank is beautiful. Cathy

Livermore, CA(Zone 9a)

Wow !! that is pretty. Mine is still only about 2 1/2 ft. tall and hasn't y'd yet. It was the first brug. I put in the ground this Spring also.

Patricia

Harlem, GA(Zone 8a)

Can someone tell me the difference between the maya and the snowbank? They so look alike in so many ways wow....that's just beautiful datdog, Gordon and MG99

Harlem, GA(Zone 8a)

Here's a pic of mine...is it 'maya'??? or something else...thanks in advance if you can help me solve my mystery

Look at the leaves on this one. It is Maya. So little white, in comparison, and the green part is more gray/green.
