We have two stands of willow trees in our front yard. Last year I noticed small black bugs in it, they seem to eat all the new growth. This year the willows have hardly any leaves.
Do any of you folks know what they are and how I can get rid of them as I can't seem to find any information on them and do not want to lose the trees.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks Trailingon
WILLOW TREES HAVE BUGS
Hi Trailingon,
We found out through the extention office here in Virginia that it was the gypsy moths that had attack our Willow tree so we just cut it down to keep it from spreading the disease to other trees..we live in the country and we just burned it..this was very sad for us to have to do..but I am sure the best..
Here's a link (http://www.state.me.us/doc/mfs/willowfl.htm) with some information. Hope it helps.
Cynthia
