I picked up one those at Lowe's a couple days ago. However, the few birds I have seem to prefer the salvia, firebush, lantana & esperanza (in that order) over the feeders.

Imway .. I'm sure you know, that it's purtee much the norm for
the hummers tho' .. when there's plenty of flowers bloomin' about ...
Just keep a watch, for when they'll really be needing the
supplement provided by the feeders ...

Here's a pic of my new feeder. I bought it with money my dad gave me for my b-day. It's the first one I've had that's made of glass instead of plastic, and it comes apart for easy cleaning. I just thought that the necter would taste better in a glass bottle. It's the only one I've ever seen 2 hummers feeding at the same time on.

jdee .. it's just adorable!
Did you do the dollin' it up, or it came with all the purtees already on it ?

I'm like you .. I really do prefer the glass. After the sun has hit them long
enuff .. the plastics just start to 'disintegrate' over time .. sometimes quite
rapidly.

The big BIG'un I have posted, is plastic .. but, can you imagine how heavy
that booger would be, if it were glass? And it would have already broken into
a thousand peices too ....

Why thank you, Magpye. I wish I could say I painted it, but alas, I must admit it came that way. I just had to have it. I've never had trouble with plastic, because I have so much shade...also, I haven't been feeding very long. I just wanted this glass one. It allows me to see the sugar water more clearly. I know that even in the shade, our Tx heat can cause it to go cloudy sooner.

Hi jdee! Where did you find that feeder?

Paris, TX(Zone 8a)

Hello to you. I got it at Walmart. I'm quite the extravigant shopper. LOL

I would love to see some of your homemade feeders. I am constructing a feeder out of a bottle, but have not finished it yet. When finished I will post.

I working on that now! Actually I need to replace the bottle on my Perky Pet feeder b/c the sun cracked the cheezy plastic. Discovered that a bottle of bath gel of my dw's fits perfectly. I cut the top off of the old bottle and it fits nicely over the top of the gel bottle. Now to find a glue that will work. Not exactly homemade but, sort of. Will post a picure tomorrow.
