Seattle Burbs, WA(Zone 8b)

Lookin good, rikerbear! Do you know the red one?

Seattle, WA(Zone 8b)

They are all Home Depot grab bag lilies as far as I know. LOL
The reddish ones are I believe Stargazers (bad camera color making them redder than they actually are)....as for the others, who knows. Which one looks like 'Dizzy'?
I am highly addicted to them....the scent is just heavenly.
I quit smoking 3 weeks ago today...and to help get some of the 'smell' out of my car I put a couple lily blooms in a small jar of water.....by morning no more smokey smell. :-)

Victoria, BC(Zone 8b)

Rikerbear, your lilies are wonderful. I've got 3 lilies this year, my first time growing them, and yes their scent is heavenly.

CONGRATS! on having 3 weeks of being smoke free, way to go.

Linda in Victoria

PS, you'll be getting email.

Seattle, WA(Zone 8b)

Seattle Burbs, WA(Zone 8b)

Thats great Rikerbear! Congrats on 3 weeks!

Seattle, WA(Zone 8b)

Thanks....and no one's had their head bitten off by me ...yet.
Who knew lilies made such good air fresheners :-)

Sand Springs, OK(Zone 7a)

just beautiful lilies and yard . and grats on stoping smoking im on the wagon two for about 3 weeks and it is hard to get smell out of car and house . good luck it make you a brave person to quit. i waited till it was stop or die.

Seattle, WA(Zone 8b)

Oh Tazzy congrates to you too!
I'm in my 40's now,and smoking for 30 years was just gosh darn long enough. (started at 12 on the farm)
Thanks for the compliment on the lilies and yard too. :-)

Cedar Rapids, IA(Zone 5a)

Rikerbear, love the setting for your lilies too. Stone walls & wood fences? How rustic! Great contrast for your babies!

Seattle, WA(Zone 8b)

Thanks :-) The stone wall is built from all the stones dug up in the yard.....well the wall and the wishing well.
WAY to many rocks in the soil.

Seattle Burbs, WA(Zone 8b)

Rikerbear, I also love your stone wall. I grow many of those rock cultivars also! ;-) I have them in piles and along my fenceline, I don't know what else to do with them. Now I have an idea...........

Seattle, WA(Zone 8b)

Here's another pic of the area....hard to see the wall as the plants have grown in rather well. :-)
It does show the new starirs I'm adding for easier access to the mid garden.

your welcome

Cedar Rapids, IA(Zone 5a)

I have small rocks lining my front flowerbeds with interesting memories attached. When we built our home, our daughters were only 4 and 6. We were the first house in the area, and spent many pleasant hours watching other houses in various stages of construction. Our girls loved to look at the rafters, wiring & exposed plumbing. we made a game out of guessing what each room was.

Our subdivision was a farm field valley for 100 years with a steam running thru where my yard is now. Many rounded non-native stones had been carried to our area over the years.
(Being a seabed in ages past, Limestone is our natural base for hundreds of feet under our soil.) The rocks were being dug up as basements went in. The girls were fascinated by the stones & started "collecting" them.

Well, one day I noticed that the second floor closets were stacked nearly full and our second floor might soon be touching our first floor if I didn't do something! I talked the girls into "showing off " thier rock collections by lining my flowerbeds. For the next 2 years, the girls would trundle off with their wagons & bring me back surprisingly big "treasures".

My front & side house beds are still lined with the rock treasures my strong little girls brought home. Stones in all colors & shapes. How could I ever move?

Seattle, WA(Zone 8b)

Oh that is just so sweet Wanda. We have our 'memory' rocks too...but only those collected from various vaction trips.

Springfield, MA(Zone 6a)

wanda that is wonderful. touches my heart. i see them with there wagon, discussing which rocks they should bring home. :) what a great adventure for them.

Harrisville, MI(Zone 5b)

They sure look great!

Seattle, WA(Zone 8b)

Well they did :-(
There're gone for this year......................

Springfield, MA(Zone 6a)

i know that is the worst part :-(

Cochrane, ON(Zone 2b)

Great pix Rikerbear. Have wanted 'Dizzy' for quite awhile but Orientals just don't seem to like it here in our northern climate.

Springfield, MA(Zone 6a)

oh broots that is so sad. you are too far north for them. :-(

Seattle, WA(Zone 8b)

Found this cutie hidden under some EE and rhubarb leaves.....and here I'd thought I was all lilied out for the year. :-)

Springfield, MA(Zone 6a)

now that is a wonderful surprise!

Seattle, WA(Zone 8b)

There are two more buds yet to open.....now that I've cut back someof the leaves hiding them they should get more sun and open soon.
I just can't get enough of that sweet sweet smell

Seattle Burbs, WA(Zone 8b)

Great find Marc!! I am looking at our speciosum rubrum with a slight regret.......it's the last one for us! sigh..........

I forgot to plant the pumpkin seeds this year. I refuse to accept that it's August! lol...............

Beautiful Sue! Not only is it August but almost the 'end' of August ;(

Lenexa, KS(Zone 6a)

Lovely Sue!! And love that hydrangea in the background too.

Seattle Burbs, WA(Zone 8b)

They are finished. boo..... (But thank you!) That hydrangea is lookin' great these days even with all of our rain.

Something new, I got kind of a bonus in the last few days!! I planted some 'Commander In Chief' Asiatics at the end of June, and they are just blooming now! I'm pretty sure their normal bloom time is June/July.

Which makes me wonder.....if we staggered our bulb plantings each season.....could we expect this same type of result?

Lenexa, KS(Zone 6a)

I planted some lilies late last year from a close-out sale and got blooms in Sept I think it was. They weren't particularly stellar blooms, but certainly after my normal lily season was over.

Springfield, MA(Zone 6a)

yep me too, and it was very nice to have the late blooms.
