Anybody gotta sand bag?

Victoria, TX(Zone 9b)

Well, for once, I'm thankful to report my little town didn't get the flooding rains. However, just a stone's throw north of here, closer towards the city, it POURED. Over 8" of rain in 3 hours. We had a "100 year flood", meaning that homes within the "100 year flood plane", well, they're soaked. Approximately eight homes have been condemned, and almost 3,000 went without power while a substation was under water. The local Reedy River was reported to have peaked at 17 ft, though I think they can't measure above 12 or 13' .

What a stinkin' huge ugly MESS! I for one am sick of the rain down here. There was talk of this "huge drought" just before I moved. Well, "we ain't in no flood now, folks". :) We've only gone maybe three weeks this summer without a downpour. Now, a little rain, I can handle. But we've had so much that, even though I live *nowhere* near a river, there can be one in my backyard if it rains hard enough.

I need-ta call and get me a quote on flood insurance! This is nuts! Anybody gotta a sandbag and wanna help me bag up around the house? I have a shovel, and I'll gladly get a truck of sand if anyone wants to help. :)

:) Floating away.... .....

PS If anyone's thinking about it, the Red Cross set up a shelter, and they're providing care & meals from there. Any donations through the RC shoudl end up here if specified. Thanks!
