getting great color

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

last post to this out of control thread. My pictures weren't day to day. They started last fall and spread to today. I didn't take day to day pictures, I don't need to, I have the plant growing in front of me and I have a life to live.
I didn't question Shirleys picture or her growing experience, she's the one that said it might not be, not me.
This brug has a history of almost a full year and blooming in 4 seasons already, and just because you personally (insert anyone's name here) haven't seen it bloom doesn't mean that I doctored a picture.

There's one purpose to the tone this thread took after I started it. To put it down.
I don't care if you think it is good or not, the pictures don't lie, no matter what anyone thinks. And ugly emails going out from here certainly don't help.

There were at least 10 DG members at Bonnies house on July 11th at the BBQ she hosted in our honor. We arrived at 2:30PM and left at around 10:00PM. Some of us came back to her house the following morning and evening on July 12th. During that time Mountain Magic was putting on a show that was to die for! I personally thought and so did Nadine who is a seemtress and has the color wheel ingraved in her mind that it was not at all pink. But the darkest and closest to red I have ever seen. Granted I've only seen others in photos..so I base my evaluation on viewing the real thing at Bonnie's and viewing photos of other brugs. Photo's can change the apperance of color with out the need of Photo Shop. I judge others based on my strengths and weeknesses. I for one would never assume that a true nature lover would ever stoop so low because I am not capable of it myself. NOBODY can tell me that I didn't see the rich color on that brugmansia. I was there and saw it with my own eyes in Newnan, GA. I can honestly tell you boys and girls that you have not seen the beauty of this brugmansia if you haven't seen it in person. I have and feel very lucky to have had the opportunity. Take a trip out to Georgia, see for yourselves. You won't regret it!

Bonnie,

I will grow it for you in South (Cypress) Texas and if that is not far south enough for you my Mother lives in McAllen, Texas, 7 miles from the Rio Grande River! Put me on the list! Just kidding LOL! No really! I would love to have that in my front yard.

Happy Gardening.

Tig:

MM and your Avalon X HG are beautiful. I have had it with my HG and I plan to relegate it to an out of the way spot in my yard. :-)

FJ:
I would love to grow MM in sunny South Florida so if you happen to lose your place in line, I will be there to jump right into it. LOL I live in Homestead which is the city above Florida City. Florida City is the last city that you go through before you hit the Florida Keys. Now that's south! Happy gardening to you too. :-)

delecie,

You know I have plans to come out to Florida next summer on vacation. This year we went to MS, GA & LA. Next year its Florida, Tenn and NY. Don't know what order yet, I'm still just dreaming at this point. But watch out....I will make concrete plants by next spring and Florida will be included in on our trip. Maybe Nadine and I will stop by.

O.K. you can be second on list. Although given that you are in 10B you should really be first in line if Bonnie is interested in seeing what it does in the hotter zones. Hmmm. Wonder what Bonnie has to say about this! LOL!

Harrisville, MI(Zone 5b)

FJ,it sounds like you had a great trip, for some reason,I always thought you were in Fl.I guess I should have looked under your name,I remember seeing your plants look so tropical,I guess I did not equate it with sunny Tex.

Hot Springs, AR(Zone 7b)

rootdoctor,

We had a wonderful time on our little trip. This is why we will do it again but plan to visit different states next summer. Eventually we will cover the whole USA on our little RU's.

I have been known to push the limits on what I should grow. I have a wonderfully shaded back yard with a smoltering hot front yard. Soaker and Sprinkler hoses everywhere and two hot houses for storing all my tropicals in the winter months. This allows to me to experiment and grow plants from zone 5-10 with out a problem. My specialty are tropicals, aroids being at the top of the list.

thanks Donna. the very first pic in this thread was 2 weeks or so later than this and after I'd moved the tree to more shade. I wish I'd kept records of what the weather was on each occasion:)
kareoke, sorry, all the cuttings have been sold for the summer.

FJ:

If you find yourself in South Florida next year, you and your travel companions should feel free to drop by my humble abode. However, I might not be there. I might be the ULO (Unidentified Lurking Object) lurking around tiG's home until the next cuttings are ready for sale. LOL

Spokane, WA(Zone 5b)

Tig - very pretty! I'm slowly catching up with all these threads I've missed out on.

Norwalk, IA(Zone 5b)

Tig, great blooms,
Snowhermit.....ya done good! Great new cultivar. What are you crossing to it?

Peachtree City, GA(Zone 8a)

I can say that the dark color of MM is true. I stood under it for one of it's first photo last year, taken by Ludger. I was in total awe of it. I believe my comments at the time was that it was almost red.

Daisy, yes I was talking to you. LOL We can hit some nurseries, maybe go listen to some blues on Beale Street, and eat some yummy Memphis BBQ. Just let me know when you want to come. I have plenty of room for you and Nadine and a few others. Oh and I will go to Graceland with you but be prepared for a circus. The best time to go is during death week. Let me tell you, they come from all over the world to honor The King and if you are into people watching it does'nt get any better than that. LOL

Loretta

Hot Springs, AR(Zone 7b)

Hi Loretta,

Oh Man! Nurseries, blues on Beale Street, yummy Memphis BBQ & Graceland! All that sound fabulous! I'm sending Nadine a email tonight. We will definately put you into the visit plans for Summer of 2005. Like wise, if you EVER need to come to Houston, Texas for anything I have a big house about 30 minutes from down town Houston with 4 BR's and I live alone with my cat. So "Me casa es tu casa"!

Thanks a bunch!

Daisy

Flowerjunkie, I am originally from the Rio Grande Valley, was born in Kingsville and still have lot of people down there. Today my brother and I went over to Graceland to check out the sights. This week is Death week and is lots of fun. There is a big tent with Elvis impersonators, the best are the ones from Japan. We had so much fun, met lots of people from all over, and laughed until my face hurt. I look forward to meeting you and your buds. I am e-mailing you my address and phone number.

Loretta

Hot Springs, AR(Zone 7b)

Hi Loretta,

I have family in Kingsville. My uncle. He has a ton of kids. Maybe you know them. My uncle's name is Amado Sanchez Jr. Maybe not. Kingsville is growing and I don't know when you last visiting. My uncle just passed away this year. I didn't get to go to the funeral since I was on a business trip.

Sounds like Graceland was a blast. Send me all your infomation. If you ever go to The Valley you should drop by here first.

Daisy

Greensburg, IN(Zone 6a)

tiIG I have seen flowers change from day to day, and when I have showed pictures I have heard the comment that it was a different flower, for me those people are not true flower lovers or they would know that flowers from the same seeds are not always exactly alike. I think your pictures are great.
what is the URL for your store?

Denver, CO(Zone 5b)

lol

Harlem, GA(Zone 8a)

I totally have to agree on that statement Kareoke, flower's do change from day to day ...one might be yellow, then white, then pink...no seeds are the same hence not exactly alike. Kudos to you my friend.

This is her URL to her store....http://brugmansias.us/main.html

Denver, CO(Zone 5b)

Dont forget ebay you two! Even if the cutting itself isnt there, check for a picture listed of MM. Its beautiful!!

Greensburg, IN(Zone 6a)

Thanks for that URL I took a quick look, need to go back.
