Mountain Magic is enjoying the heat.
getting great color
tiG, it's been pretty hot in my yard too. Linda
tiG, the more I see of MM the more I just have to have it! Let me know the next time it's on ebay.
The color is just amazing, if you have some pollen, please let me put it on the curly seedling.
An almost red "Curly Que" (whatever that means, lol) would be too cool.
Can't wait to see a flush on the Orange double!
My Mountain Magic does not do well in the heat at all. The color is about the same, maybe a little lighter, but the blooms wilt horribly in the heat. Maybe it is our high humidity that causes the problems for me. I've moved her to almost total shade and will see what the next flush will do.
Shirley our humidity is almost at 100%.
I think this is the year of pinks, there are so many new ones out there, it is hard to keep up. I think the ones that can survive bad conditions like heat, humidity and insect attacks will be the ones that last.
It will be interesting to see how this one rates as others grow it in different areas of the country. I wonder if this one would be dark for Kell in California?
well, I've got the heat, humidity and bugs, but none are bothering MM. It's darker for Terry in New Hampshire, hasn't bloomed in FL or Texas yet, though.
Wow, almost missed this, sure looks dark enough for me, lol!
MM is simply beautiful!
Hot and humid is rather an understatement in Georgia isn't it?
BTW, tiG, my GW is still living, small but thriving, it's so spoiled it even has it's own beach umbrella :)
Linda, I think everything likes to eat Whiskers!
MM is one beautiful brug. Hope to have it someday!
Linda, I can't figure out what cats like best. I have a bed of 60 close together and only one is eaten badly. I do have a snail problem, it's just rained here so much!
Vi, I'm so glad your GW is doing well. it smells just like we told you, you'll love it!!
Awesome color, tiG! A brug like this will generate alot of excitement among the true brug connoiseurs!!!
Fantastic color. Glad to hear it loves the heat.
And look at the length of those tendrils!!! Wonder how it will do in a NJ hot and humid summer...can't wait!

I'm not saying the she's orange/red. Had a huge group of brug growers here and they'll tell you it was pink. and it's gotten darker each flush too, so maybe yours will too, I just don't know. Terry's was much darker than mine 2 months ago.
Wow, what a difference, I like them both but I wonder about the varying colors between the pics....
What kind of temperature and humidity difference is there between Iowa and Georgia this year??? Anybody know??
That does not look like an open PB to compare with.
They are all pretty. Like the way the color goes all the way up.
Tig, MM and the Avalon cross are just beautiful. Wish i would find some color in my brugs, but so far in this heat I am seeing only light golds and off whites. At least don't have high humidity to contend with. I hate going outside but have irrigate constantly and still can't keep everything watered enough. Donna
Tig,that is one beautiful brug.I think it is probably the best
pink in the US.I havn't seen another to compare with both size and color.
Terry, the July 8 shot is really gorgeous.
sorry doc, I ran right over to the other plant, but it didn't stay open just that long. did the best I could.
It isn't possible that I got the tags mixed up. Could be possible that this isn't Mountain Magic though. I really don't care. Just wanted to show the difference in mine and tiG's.
Shirley wait for the second flush. It will be dark if it's MM.
I'm confused though, two posts above you said the color was about the same as tiGs picture, maybe a little lighter but now it's nowhere near as dark?
I'm happy to see that this flush that was horribly wilted has revived. They are beautiful. :)
Terry, it was only in the seventies today and this is the second flush. No need to be confused....I was trying to remember the color, I wasn't looking at a picture. If it isn't MM, then tiG may have got her cuttings mixed up. I had absolutely nothing else that would have bloomed like this one. It is probably a weather difference thing. I'm not trying to be critical, I just wanted to show that it doesn't bloom dark for me like it does for you guys. I tried to find recent pictures of MM on BGI, but you all haven't posted them evidently. Oh yes, I do have a MM planted in the ground. I'll be checking its first bloom tomorrow. It was opening tonight when I came in.
check the trade forum, there are two really good pics in there.
Talk about confusing...it must be catching..lol
There's so many different pics, I don't even know which is which. There's two different ones on the ebay link and different ones in the PDB and now Shirleys....Whew...

Can someone post those pics from the trade forum??
it's like L'amour. under the right conditions, it's almost red. Mountain Magic is no different, it loves my conditions and Terry's too. The picture above was taken this week.
We use photo shop at work, it's a wonderful program.
no one ever questioned the color of L'amour on monikas first book. What is the difference here? What about RK? has anyone's been almost red? Most I've seen are light pink.
I can't believe that it's suggested, however veiled, that photoshop was used.
MMagic hasn't always bloomed quite this dark for me, in fact last fall, it was bright pink. I didn't ask it to change, it just happened with the weather.
Cala, I don't have Photo Shop on my computer nor do I know how to use it. That is an outright rude comment and not called for at all.
I came here tonight because I'm the hybridizer of MT Magic and when tiG posted the picture there seemed to be a question on her color.
I can't believe that a certain few will take pleasure by insinuating that these pictures were doctored and not true to color.
Why was the supposedly"red" one that was posted a while back not questioned at all by anyone?
This little clicky group is not worth my time or my pictures.
Think what you like about MM, all that matters to me is that I'm very happy with it.
It's very sad that we can't be happy for eachother when someone gets something special but I guess that some feel that they must be the only ones that deserve recognition for their efforts to better the Brug world.
And now back to MY world.
This thread was a welcome sight cuz it brought information about MM which, cuz of it's newness, there wasn't alot of.
I noticed the tone change when Shirley commented that her MM wasn't bearing up in the heat. This was not a critism but a fact of her experience in her 90+ temps and humidity.
Her weather compares well with Georgia so it brought up a good discussion point, nothing more. Defending a brug with no history is confusing. We always discuss the characteristics of different brugs from their strengths to their weakness, which they all have.
Why the defense of MM to the point that Shirley may not have MM is confusing all over again. tiG sent that one so I don't know how that could be true. We all are the potential future owners and of course would want to know about it's performance in a wide range of conditions.
You say it's being grown in Florida and Texas and have yet to see how it reacts but immediately discount Shirleys' experience in growing MM. Doesn't make sense....Wouldn't you want to know???
As far as pictures go, I've seen at least 5 distinctly different ones. I don't know if it can be attributed to a camera, weather, soil, or the brug Gods, etc. lol Personally, my favorite was the picture taken by Ludger last October. I liked the rasberry tint.....
I thought the purpose was to ask since it was a thread about heat tolerance by tiG.
I guess from your comment of another "supposedly Red" brug posted recently, points to your belief it was doctored. The big difference is that the owner has posted numerous pictures and pointed out subtle changes as the days wore on and had pictures in all lighting conditions. I guess that's why no one has been confused about it's consistent coloring.
Please reconsider your angry words and come back so we can continue discussing your beautiful brug....Like tiG says..."It's only a flower"...No need to get upset....
