Janet, great pictures of a great looking garden. Very tropical looking. I love the walkway. Now you need to get a digital so you can show us more, and often. Love it.
If you all only knew what went into this little area!!
I made each stepping stone from 2 plastic party tray molds, and DH cut, measured, and drove each landscape timber into the ground with a mallet individually. It was a labor of love.
Most Saturdays and Sundays I am sitting in the chair under the palm tree just looking at the view!!
You both did a great job. I'm impressed with the whole look. Wish I had a palm to sit under, but I'm afraid it would have to be plastic. LOL! Keep up the good work and by all means, take time to enjoy it all.
Thanks Brugie, that's a big compliment!!:o)
Wow it's beautiful. You have done a great job.
Love your tropical beds! A slice of the tropics in ol' Miss!
Gosh, Janet, thats Gorgeous!!!
Jen
Gorgeous, just beautifull, what a nice path to walk thru!!
It looks great Janet.
I do have to say I love the border it is awsome, I love walking through it it made me want a fence, esp here in r'dale. I would have a little shade. goodness it would be so nice. I saw some similar at disney that was the 3-4 inch poles and they stuck them in the ground but they were taller. how many of those poles did that take?
ely
they were round I am sorry not to enclude that.
tired. just jogged 4 miles...LOL tired of being a big guy....... =)
ely
Love the shells in the path,a very nice tropical touch!
Oh that is so lovely! Save me a margariiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiita! Extra lime. :D
Thanks everyone!!!
It's nice of everyone to reply.
Elyearcrazy, that's my zone pushing area, also. I had so many 9a-b plants come back this year in that area. It's so protected between the house and the fence. (Believe it or not there is a fussy neighbor on the other side, who hates it when my plants grow over the fence, and it's hard to keep them contained, sometimes.
Hey, everyone is invited over anytime for margarrrrrrrrritas!!!!
Salt, salt, wher's the d--n salt???????
LOL!!
Janet
Be right over, I'll bring the lime :)
Beautiful, Janet. But... where are the weeds. I lost control this year and they took over.
I love it Janet, chill me a Bud and I'll be right there!
Well, I work about 50+ hours a week and I had taken off work for the first time this year had 2 extra days, and weeded all day Sat, and mulched Sun, when she came and took pictures. So, I guess I kinda cheated. LOL!!!!
The rain had made the weeds go crazy!!
Ely, not sure how many landscape timbers it took(a bunch, I guess-I designed-he did it). I'll have to ask him for you.
Janet
I found this thread and thought I'd post some before, during and after pics.
I am on dialup so it may take a few days to load all the ones I would like everyone to see.
I have before Hurricane, during and after pics to post.
Watch the transformation!! Hopefully I'll have some after, the after pics!!
Janet
I see my alocasia calfornias in your yard...

How did you maintain your sanity? You have my utmost respect. How far from the coast were you? How are things now?
Debbie
Debbie,
It wasn't easy. I just prayed that God would take care of us. I walked around the house and tried to see what I could save and decided we didn't need anything, but cash, debit card, and our driver's license in case something happened they would know who we were. My husband was the calm one, he kept saying "you can swim, I know you can, I've seen you do it!!" It all sounds funny now, but it was scary.
Janet
Front of the house. All of the debris is from the houses at the end of the street, most of which dissintegrated. The waterline is next to the landscape timbers in the front yard.
We were literally surrounded by water!!! It is like a mini island out here, the gulf is south of us and west of us, and there is a bayou to the north of us. We were so fortunate.
