First Pink of the season

Norwalk, IA(Zone 5b)

This is Pink Beauty..very long spurs and huge flowers.Real big plant....is full of buds just over night it seems.

Too hot to pollinate it yet, still in the upper 80's at 9 pm.Humid too.So will wait a few days and cross some of the other flowers.

Norwalk, IA(Zone 5b)

Mine will have about 40 flowers soon.

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Great. This really is a pretty one. Do you have Rosamond blooming yet? I want to see it bloom right beside Pink Beauty so I can finally be able to tell the difference.

Denver, CO(Zone 5b)

Very Pretty Kyle!

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

I want to see all 40 bloom! What a sight esp if they are all as robust as the one you are posting. I see some tropical leaves in the background there. Please invite us for a picture tour Kyle! I just read a rave review of your garden on another thread.

Norwalk, IA(Zone 5b)

Tonasket, WA(Zone 5a)

Kyle, very pretty pink is your PB. Mine bloomed a few blooms a couple of weeks ago , has buds again now. It is very hot here too, last week high 90s and 100, had a couple of days of mid 80s this week and now 92 again. Mine is in almost full sun, hard to keep moist enough. Donna

Deep South Coastal, TX(Zone 10a)

She looks so sturdy Kyle. It will be a sight to see when if all 40 blooms open at once!

Matthews, MO(Zone 6b)

I can't wait to that too!

Adrian, MI(Zone 5b)

It is a beauty!! Can you tell us why it is too hot to pollinate? I 've never seen what the temp. should be to pollinate. I'm kind of green here! I have one that I hope will someday bloom. I thought you had to wait for a fluffy pollen and I thought that meant a time period, didn't know that temp. mattered.

Bonnie at temps above 80F pollen seems to lose viability. The higher the temps the less likely the pollen will fertilize the flower.Best temps for me has been in the 60F-78F range..can vary depending on the conditions.

Adrian, MI(Zone 5b)

Thanks Eclipse, I've never read this before. I appreciate this! My big thing that I learned today!! You guys are so educational!

beautiful Kyle

Angleton, TX(Zone 9a)

It's a beauty and now I understand why my pollination is not taking. We have high temps 95-100 and high humidity.

Norwalk, IA(Zone 5b)

Best to pollinate on a cool evening if you can.Right after the flower opens for the first night. :-)

Needville, TX(Zone 9a)

Just Beautiful!!!!!!

Brundidge, AL(Zone 8b)

gorgeous bloom, my PB damped off when trying to root it.

Tulsa, OK(Zone 6b)

Oh great, I'm screwed for the next couple of months! We're getting into the highs of upper 90's & lows near 80 full summer months. I wish that I'd known that last month! I was waiting until now to pollinate when I should have been doing it while it was cool outside. Oh well, there's always the fall (I can't BELIEVE I'm already thinking about cooler weather - COLD weather is just on the other side of that!).

Your plant is beautiful, Kyle, I can't wait to see it full of flowers! Your box came yesterday, thanks for the cuttings, I'm thrilled with them!

Yukon, OK(Zone 7b)

Ronna, get ready....we are having rain and much cooler weather on Sat & Sun, with storms all weekend. Get that paintbrush ready and have some fun! Good Luck!

I see someone has been playing with the paintbrush and pollen too. LOL! Those blooms are going to be so close they won't have room to open. Cool!!

Norwalk, IA(Zone 5b)

Brugie ,brugie, brugie,......I didn't cross those flowers...it was the....uh....Brug fairy!! Yeah thats it!! The Brug fairy did it! :-)

Harrisville, MI(Zone 5b)

See the buds??? Dang that pic is all buds!!

Tonasket, WA(Zone 5a)

The Brug Fairy pollenized several of my Snowbank blooms and now I have a bunch of seed pods hanging. I didn't try to pollenize anything myself, was waiting for something interesting to bloom and now the weather is in the100s again. Donna

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Did the brug fairy also hang tags on the blooms? LOL! Hope you got some good ones going there.

Herbstein, Germany(Zone 5a)

Look at all these buds! The brug fairy will be very busy pollinating.

Norwalk, IA(Zone 5b)

LOL :-)

Angleton, TX(Zone 9a)

Kyle, can't wait to see all those buds open. It will be quite a site to behold. Make some beauties with your pollination.

Denver, CO(Zone 5b)

Norwalk, IA(Zone 5b)

I am absolutely buried in brugs this summer. They are EVERYWHERE! LOL
