Ash tree losing leaves

There is an ash tree in the back yard that has been losing leaves for about 4 weeks now. The leaves that are falling are still green, but they are slightly curled and dry. Any ideas?

I don't know about IL, but in MI there is a big worry about the emerald ash borer. I don't know what they do exactly, but they are a nonnative pest species and MI is doing all sorts of things to try to get rid of them.
