My sister just called me with this question:
One of her young 'uns peeled the bark off one side of her beautiful new Salix caprea 'Kilmarnock'....she's worried that it will soon decline. Is there anything that can be wrapped around it to save it, or will it be alright without any remedy?
Thanks in advance!
Salix caprea ‘Kilmarnock’
Nobody??
Any advice at all on *any* tree/shrub w/bark damage?
Purty please, lol!!
As long as the bark was not peeled off around the entire trunk, the tree will be OK.
Don't treat the wound with anything; the bark will naturally grow over the wounded area.
The only cosmetic thing you could do is trim the damaged edges of the bark so they are not rough. Do this very carefully so you don't cut into the trunk of the tree.
The tree should be just fine.
Mike
Thank you, Mark!
That's just what we were hoping to hear (see)!
