This one gets even prettier the more I look at it.
I. nil - Hatsu Arashi
Oh my oh my!!!! Hatsu is my fave! Did you start from seeds? If so could you tell me where you found them? Mine from the nursery was chewed at the stem by rabbits. Foul fiends!
Yes I started from seed, I bought from ebay quite some time ago, not a clue if they have anymore online or not!!
If all goes well I will have seeds to share this fall.
One of the reasons I paid $$ for mine at the nursery was hoping it would seed well. So good luck to you and yours! I'm off to Google search...
That one is absolutely gorgeous!!!!
Another blue ribbon for you, Laurrie!
OK OK Donna, you have many more blooming thus far!!!! You will have to start posting those lovelies here too ;)
LOL, ssssshhhhh, I don't want to be mobbed ;~) But I will say, that your Arashi does not seem to flop over on itself like mine does, which lead to "scars" on the petals.
This vine seems to be more "spindly" than the others, you know like long and lanky more so than any other I am growing, however, the other seed that sprouted in blocks is much different?????
Just beautiful Laurrie, one of my fav's to....so glad that some are getting blooms now.
My Hatsu bloomed about 6 or 7 flowers and up and stopped. I got the seeds off it already and I looked today and it is dead. So shade is not a good place for it.
As far as spindly alot of mine start out that way and will beef up later, some do just the oppisite so I don't know what is going on there. I see some of the Chocolate and Rose Silk are getting really thin. The un-named from Belize has been spindly all along and is just now beginning to beef up a bit a produce some vines bigger than a pencil lead. Joyce Cobb has been the same and still does not have a sign of a bloom ....
!@#&*+ guess yall know what that is....LOL
Some have had lots of fertilizer and some have not so I don't think that has any thing to do with the way they start or stop, still keeping my diary and trying to figure these things out......
:o)

How is this one doing Breezy? How is it holding up to the weather. How well are the blooms holding up and are your leaves begining to dry up on your vines?
:)

Another blue beauty!
OK this one planted in large cement container at end of driveway is 10 feet up the poles, doing wonderfully!! blooms and blooms, literally 10-12 per day open. just lovely, then I have ONE in a pot, it is finished, no more flowers, setting seeds like mad, but vines are NOT drying up at all, keep almost expecting to see more flowers it is so fresh and green!! Go figure. All in all, I would definitely grow this one again!! And they are HUGE!!!
Oh my! Those are wonderful pictures of a beautiful bloom!! They ARE huge! lol WOW
Yes these blooms are gigantic, I fell in love at first with the color as the first few flowers on the vine were whimpy, but after it got a good start they at least doubled in size!!
