He has been rather blah until now! This is actually from a huge sucker off Big Yella.

He sure isn't blah now. That is very pretty Kell. Is it scented?

Matthews, MO(Zone 6b)

Kell I am waiting on mine to bloom again, it bloomed this winter, and I have repotted it in a nice big pot. It looks like it is going to be a very good heavy bloomer.

Grass Lake, MI(Zone 5a)

What a beauty Kell. Love your photo!!!

Kannapolis, NC(Zone 7b)

No signs of a Y on mine yet. Wish it would hurry. Your blooms are beautiful.

Livermore, CA(Zone 9a)

I absolutely love this one. The blooms are so big, it has a nice shape and the color is so bright and vivid.

Kannapolis, NC(Zone 7b)

I second that, CC.

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

The blooms till now have been light and nothing special. It just finally started putting out the huge, dark pillowey ones that I love!

Rowlett, TX(Zone 8a)

Kell, will you send a cutting for postage?

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

OH Earthing, I could say I would but I have promised so many friends things and I am so far behind. There is not enough time in the day. So I sure do not want to mislead you. Also I am pathetic. Email me your address with what you want and I I make you no promises but you never know if I will wake up with the urge to do packaging one day soon!

Denver, CO(Zone 5b)

My!! Incredible color, love those trendils! Perfect picture as always Kell.

Tonasket, WA(Zone 5a)

Kell beautiful photo as you ususally do. On my screen it is a deep gold color. Is that about what it is. Donna

Rowlett, TX(Zone 8a)

Thank you, Kell, you have mail.

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

Don't thank me yet Earthling! LOL

Ponditis, yes it has a big scent!

Donna, yes, it gets very pumpkin colored. I am not sure what makes it darken. Also the recurve comes later in the season also. It has just started to put those out. I love it when it is full of giant pillowy blooms.

This one is just changing to dark now. Later today it will get its great recurve and turn dark.

They start out yellow. Then turn to orange. So you get several colors on your tree at one time. Most of these blooms are new. They will darken.

This is a very young sucker, all 7 feet still very green. The most amazing trait of Big Yella is that it is incredibly aggressive and puts out huge suckers that make great alley trees.

I like how the center is yellow!

My Dr. Seuss is very dark right now also. Looks similar though not as a robust a bloom!

What a beautiful brug! Dumb newbie question (well, I've been growing brugs for 4 yrs but I'm new to this forum). Is 'Big Yella' available anywhere, or is this one of Kell's that is not on the market?

Herbstein, Germany(Zone 5a)

Just beautiful!

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

Thanks Monika. It is funny, I have the tendency to be fickle and want to toss my old goldies in favor of new glitter ones. Then the new one does some dumb thing and I realize sometimes the dependable, old ones who have proven themselves over and over again are much more worthy of my devotion!

I hope my DH believes this also. LOL!!

Sorry, Tom, just saw this thread again. It is one I bought from a hardware store. I think they grow them from seeds for they have tons of these yellow ones but all are a little different. I have grown out 3 or 4 of them now, and Big Yella is by far the best one. This is one aggressive brug! I have sent him all over so I am sure he is available.

Raleigh, NC(Zone 7b)

OK, who else out there has Big Yella?

Yukon, OK(Zone 7b)

Well.....I did!!! Waaaaa :(

It was beautiful....growing so well in the house over the winter....and then....I killed it 'dead'!!! I couldn't believe it! But that was before I totally understood spider mites!

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Mine is now thinking about setting some buds. Looks like a lot of my seedlings will bloom before the cuttings do this year. I'm anxious to see this one bloom in my yard.

Kannapolis, NC(Zone 7b)

I think I may have this one if the rain and toads haven't done it in.

Harrisville, MI(Zone 5b)

I do,it looks like it is going to a real bloomer here.

Raleigh, NC(Zone 7b)

Great! Please let me know if any of you have extra cuttings this fall. I'd be glad to trade anything I have or reimburse you for postage.

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Tom, one of us will get one for you. I have two in the ground and will have to either dig one to hold over or take cuttings, but I should have cuttings available. However, anyone who gets cuttings from me should be aware that I did have a potted cutting that had stangelbrand this winter and I dug out my CG (not near any of the other brugs) because I thought it might have it too. I am not seeing anything at this time with any of the other 150 plus brugs, but I've heard that sometimes it doesn't show up until the plant is stressed.

Kannapolis, NC(Zone 7b)

Tom, this fall there'll be many cutting of different Brugs offered to anyone who wants them.

Denver, CO(Zone 5b)

Tom I think you will be in for a shock come fall. I dont have BY just yet, but you are more than welcome to any cuttings of brugs I have.

SE Arky, United States(Zone 8a)

Question about the fall cuttings - they are not rooted, right?? If that is the case, how are they shipped - that is are they just put in something wet and shipped overnight??? TIA!!

Matthews, MO(Zone 6b)

They are not rooted, most people take time to wrap the bottom of the cuttings in wet paper towels and then put baggies of the towels to hold in the moisture. It is a long, time consuming, and expensive venture for all that openly send cuttings. That is why lots of people limit the amount of boxes they are going to send.

Raleigh, NC(Zone 7b)

Thanks, Shelly!!! That is very generous of you!!!

SE Arky, United States(Zone 8a)

Thanks, TLynn !!! I was late getting lots of plants in the ground but I expect to have lots of cuttings, I just don't know which ones, yet, and I'm glad to know how to ship them. Do you get boxes at the post office, does UPS have boxes, I can find that out here but those long, triangle boxes are perfect. I might even get around to rooting a few...

Matthews, MO(Zone 6b)

I get priority boxes from the PO. They have a website were you can order them online and they are free. The have tape, lables, just about everything you need to ship.
