Finally!

Sorry about your babe, Jagonjune. Was it a first foal?

Maybe don't do the same breeding.
Ginny who only breeds dogs these days after many years of AI-ing cows.

Well more bad news this morning. The vets opening remark was "what didn't your foal have?" Sooo... looks like their is a remarkable possibility that the mare is a carrier for an immuno deficiency genetic condition. No breeding her again. Which leads to the next big decision about whether its time to say goodbye to her (and her half sister who has lost about 65% of her site). If one goes then I will euthenize both at the same time cause the heartache can't be any greater with two than one. I just don't want to go thru it once and then again in a year or two.

Aren't I just a little ray of sunshine.

Oh Lynn!!! :'( (((((Hugs)))))

DH wonders if you could give/sell them to a trail riding outfit or for a pet? Or are they carrying a degenerative eye disorder? We had a dalmation that was deaf...the vet wanted to put her down but we had her fixed and gave her to a farmer with a large enclosed run. Not thinking of having yours fixed but ...

Unfortunately neither of these mares is suitable for other than experienced riders. Both of them are wonderful rides; but not for the unitiatiated. And I won't sell my problems to someone else. Both for the horses' sake and the humans.

On a happier note, I found one of our commercial growers who will winter my brugs for me. He is so excited. I told him about Liz' website and he is drooling.

Sorry not to suggest passing the problem on. He just thought if it was a genetic disorder that would only affect offspring it might be an option. The farmer that took Tara was aware of her problem...we just wanted to make sure she would be somewhere safer than town and would never have pups.

Lynn, so sorry to hear about the mares. I have an inkling of what you are going through. Our dog of 15 years, the one that had the cancer in her mouth removed last week, is getting so weak she's having a hard time getting her hind end up a single stair. I'm putting off the inevitiable, but I imagine we'll be putting her down before the sumer is over.

My heart goes out to you through this time.

Linda
