They aren't "prickly" thorns, though, right? I've never taken notice either - I'm going to have to run out there and look at mine now!

yuppers! mine have tiny little "thorns" on them, but I touched one, and they don't prick ya!
Well golly! I guess the "thorns" are normal then. Mine are not stiff either Karrie, they just look sharp. You can bet I will be watching the blooms I get on all my clematis now. TomTom, thank you so much for the seeds that are on their way. And I am speechless that you are including MG seeds too! That is so generous. I am indebted to you.
