I'll start - here's my "MME.Edouard Andre" In about full bloom. He's 3 years old. Get's better, and fuller every year, so those of you just starting, don't give up - just takes them time, just like honeysuckle!
(if someone else started a thread like this, I didn't see a recent one!)
Clematis Pics - Let's Share!
So pretty you two! Dixie, what is yours? It kind of looks like my Nellie Moser, but brighter. I got on such a clematis kick after my moser, the president & jackmanii bloomed this year for the first time. So I started collecting & am up to, gosh, 13? They are just so lovely! I can hardly wait to see all the lovely pics that are gonna be posted on this thread.

Donna it is Nellie Moser...I have 3 more now, (just bought )
I'd have to go out and look at the names but one is white, & one has double bloom (purple) and the other is President I think(also purple)
I'll check the names and post later, its pouring rain noe...AGAIN
BTW - could someone tell me how to save the seeds from these?
Karrie,
the fringe in the middle will be all that is left after the petals fall off. If you leave it alone, it will start getting "fluffy", sorry don't know technical terms, lol, but once it is fluffy you can touch it & it will come right off and that is your seed. At least that is the way I do it. And it came take a year or more for clematis seed to germinate.
Here is a site that I use & it might be helpful.

Very pretty Osteole, the purple and white together is striking.
Thanks Pudgy!
Osteole, that is a pretty color combo!
thank you all for your comments.
I really love my clematis.
Osteole you make me want to try clematis again! Hard to get the drainage right down here where the water table is only about 2 feet under! Maybe pots...
Kerrie, you can also find some great info here

I'll have some seed from the nelly moser before summer is over, I'm just not sure yet how to tell if there whats called "good seed" lol....I'll send you some and maybe you can tell if there good....:-)

But, then I'm not real good with seed anyway...
I'll send ya mail when there ready to go....

Clematis paniculata or better known as "Sweet Autumn" Clematis.
I have to show this Clematis in two stages, because it is about 20ft long. Here is part 1.

Here is part 2. http://www.grovestreet.com/jsp/onepic.jsp?id=160476
I would consider any Clematis that grows 20-30ft (or more), to cover your pool shed or any other structure.
My Sweet Autumn Clematis has become such a thug, that I am going to try to get rid of it...it is attempting to strangle some of my roses!
HOLY MOLEY Shirley! That Sweet Autumn was so thick! I've never seen one grow like that around here! Beautiful!
is sweet autumn hardy in Michigan? zone 5b?

Very pretty TomTom! They look like Fairy hats. :~)
tom tom that's a beautful shot.
I see peonies and...what's on the left? Very prettty scheme
My Dr. Ruppel is no larger now than it was when I purchased it (locally). I'll be patient and see what it does next year.
oooh roses. I didn't even consider.
I like the combination will have to duplicate that one :)
Oh my goodness! The Rehmannia elata is beautiful. I just looked it up in the plants database & it sounds wonderful. Someone in San Francisco says that it is evergreen for them. We are in the same zone TomTom, do you find that to be true?
Thank you for the information TomTom. I am going to get some of the seeds for next year.
I took my camera out to one of my vine fences to take some pics of my snail vine blooms and had a surprise waiting for me. I had a bare spot that needed covering so I planted a small plant of Rhapsody. It is only about a foot tall, and has a bloom! I was so surprised. I did not even realize when you posted yours above, that I even had that one! I guess you can figure you have too many plants when you lose track of what you have without looking at markers. ;~)

Wow, beautiful color !
I regret I 've never known that Clematis petals could have thorns .
The number of petals and the size of flowers may vary owing to the conditions of the plant .
I think your plant is still so young that it might have only four petals.
Now it occures to me chances are that my previous photo of Rhapsody was somehow mislabeled when I look again closely at the color and the size of stamen.
Posted are the photos of Rhapsody taken last year.
The left one is that of the first flowering and right one the
second flowering .
You might see the the difference in size and form between them.
Yes, I can see a difference between the bloom cycles. Very interesting. And I think you are right about mine being so young as to why there are only 4 petals. It is a very small plant, nothing I would have ever expected a bloom from. After looking at your last pic, they too appear to have that "thorn" looking thing on the petal tips. I could not think of a more appropriate name for it so I called it thorn. Maybe that is common & I just don't have enough experience with clematis to realize it. I also notice that yours is much more purple then mine. I wonder if that will change with maturity too.
So much to learn! ;~) I LOVE it!
Donna
