Narc,
What are you interested in? I just took a tally and checked what I have so I might be able do SASE.
I have these available for trade
Maybe the Allamanda cathartica "Hendersonii"?
The only things I have that I could trade for are things that most folks allready have.
Elephant ears
Wandering Jew (Purple)
Pothos Ivy
Narc
Elephant ears are neat. I can always use more. But if you prefer to do SASE I can do them for SASE. I'll put your name on one of each and maybe some other things I have around here. Let me know what you decide to do. I should have some extra duranta too. If I do I'll include it too.
Hi again
Bug thanks for evreything, I will gladly send you some E Ears.
Please leave the Duranta, I have and this is no joke 12 of these along the back of my house that are an easy 6 foot tall.
They are durable.
I will send you an email if that is ok?
Thanks Again
Vicki (narc)
In zone 8a? Wow. I'm glad to hear that they do so well. I look forward to planting mine in the ground. I look foward to getting your e-mail.
BugFreak
any of the Chinese Lantern hibiscus left? i would love some plmk moretz
Hmmmmm I'm 8b. I may try putting mine in the ground if I can find a fairly dry spot. I sure love it.
I looked at the zone map again and the line between 8a and 8b sits right on top of me.
The Duranta that is behind the house is on the south side, I also have it out in the open as well, so it gets the cold north wind in the winter. It has come back every year and I planted it 5 years ago. I love the blueish/purple flowers, the hummmers and the butterfly's enjoy it as well.
Donna, this is one of those that needs very little water, I hope you can find a spot, if you can leave lots of room around it. Like I said mine are 6 foot tall and probably 5 to 6 foot around.
E-mail coming Bug :)
Have a good trip Hugo and be safe. See you when you return.
BugFreak, I just realized that you include rooted cuttings of Conf. Jasmine in your list. How in the world did you root them????????? I have a huge one and I'd like to try making my own - its one of my fav. plants.
Darn, sorry I missed that passi.E! Root some more please!!
BTW Lowes and Home Depot sell this kit with a bit and screws for attaching things to brick - goes in like butter! I can have hanging baskets now! The screws are blue - forget the brand name but they have a big display. Make sure you get the drill bit too.
Delphinium,
I should have TONS of passion flowers rooted soon. I need to make taking passion flower cuttings a project as soon as I return from my vacation. The P. "Elizabeth" that I had were excess left from cuttings sent to me from another DG'er. I only wanted one to add to my collection and ended up with 6 or so. I may have another. I'll look around.
BTW anyone who has passion flowers, please send me a list of what you have if you haven't already done so. I'll sort through the lists to see who has what. Thanks to those who have already done this.
Rooting confederate jasmine (also one of MY favorites) was pretty easy. I believe all that you need to make sure is to take the nodes into consideration. One should be down under the soil. (This is where the roots will come from.) The other should be the next node up the stem and this should have at least one leaf left on it. I have rooted this plant many times. It seems to me that if you leave both of the leaves on it, success rate is much higher. Though it could have been the season I did it that contributed to the success rate. (When I rooted the last batch, I got lazy and let them sit overnight in water thinking they would be fine the next day. The next morning the leaves looked bruised and started to get mushy. I believe the milky fluid released combined with water may break down the leaves over long exposure.) I use a peat based soil mixture, rooting hormone and keep them moist. If the nodes are far to spaced apart the cutting usually fades quickly and rots. I believe this is growth that took place when days where shorter. This happens to passion flower too. The nodes are further spaced apart as fall/winter approaches. Those cuttings rot and never root for me. The plant material closer to the tips doesn't tend to root well for me at all. I think it has to be semi-hardend wood.
Just want to let everyone know...
Most of this stuff will be in rooting cubes. Not all but most. This was sort of a rooting experiment. Besides using them to root the cuttings, I find rooting cubes to be the best way to ship them without having to disturb the roots or having to worry too much about moisture or keeping the soil contained durig shipping.
Thanks Donna. I hope to visit at least one DGer living in Everett. (I think I spelled it correctly). We'll see how it goes. Who knows, I may bring back a thing or two. She is into brugs. Speaking of brugs... I think I need to update my list above. I'll do it shortly or I may have to wait til I return. I'm trying to keep this organized a bit and who knows what will be left surviving when I return. I have set most things on timers.
Thanks Bug - I am going to start some cuttings right away. I would have though the new growth would be more successful, but shows what I know - I will try the older wood and take nodes into account. Hopefully I'll soon have a batch of them - I could put this stuff on every fence I own!
See what happens when my computer goes down
the plants of my dreams come up....
and I miss out
dang
If you have them left I'd love the passi elizabeth and the yellow mandi
I have a double pink mandi(pink parfait) not rooted yet
yes I'm chicken
I have to look at your lists again......
I have stuff I don't even know I have...LOL
Crested,
Look over your stuff and I'll look over mine. I know I have the yellow mandi for sure.
Crested
don't worry we are all going to bug the Bug until his whole life consists of rooting passis and mailing them to us!
Bug or anybody:
where is the best source for rooting cubes? Can you use the Oasis they sell at craft stores? I need to get a really tempting assortment of cuttings together for when Bug roots those passis...
I almost freaked when I saw all those passi's listed!
I'm going to take cuttings of mine and try to root them,
they're nothing rare but they are gorgeous
but I can't keep that many, they have to go in GH over the winter
and the brugs don't share well
but Lady Margaret and Citrinia(spelling) are on my GOTTA get them list
But I love Mandi's!I spent 50 bucks to get that double I have.....(I know ,there's a sucker born every minute)
oh gosh CC please tell me they aren't that much. I recieved one as an unexpected gift. I would hate to know they spent that much plush the heafty postage to send it to me. Hoping bloom is open tomorrow if it will ever quit raining.
Delphinium,
I believe I got mine from a place called BT Grower Supply or something like that. I'm not sure if they are the same as the craft store type but if they are I believe the craft store prices will be way higher than the nursery supply places. I can't wait to see what you root.
Hey Bugfreak,
I would love the pride of barbados!!! I missed out on it at the FL swap! :o(
You seem to have so much already, what are you looking for??
Email me and let's talk trade!!!
Thanks a bunch!!!
Janet
Crestedchick,
What plants were you looking for? How are your cuttings coming along? I hope well.
delphiniumdiva,
I have one passion flower left of the P. Elizabeth. Let me know if this interests you. Or if you prefer to wait until your cuttings are more established/rooted we can do a larger trade at a later date.
FYI
I have taken cuttings of 30 different passion flowers so far. Along with some other plants. These should be rooted in a few weeks.
JanetOS,
I have the red POB available if you are still interested. (I don't think had replied previously).
Yes! Yes! YES!!!!!!!!! My name is Elizabeth so I really think I need one, kapich? I couuuullld also use a Cherries Jubilee if you still have one! Almost spent real money on one at the nursery but I remembered in time!
Here's the more unusual trops I have:
cinnamon ginger
C "Tropicanna"
Piper auritum
2 precious cuttings of chrysothemis "Black Flamingo" (you can have the one with roots on it!)
Variegated Jewels of Opar
Medinilla magnifica - 1 cutting in progress
unID'd pretty bamboo with black stems and chartreuse leaves
EE illustris
Brunfelsia australis - whole 3 foot shrub gotta go, no room!
Cestrum fasciculatum 'Newellii' - 3yr old, really big, whole thing going; big postage though.
check my TL for more.
I'd like to get some Cherries and some batface and possibly some duranta along with the Elizabeth and am willing to wait! My journal is pretty up to date so if there's something there not on my TL I'll take cuttings.
Am going to be doing some major yellow Tabebuia seeds this winter; neighbor has 3 trees - plan on watching em like hawk and copping the lot. Sprout like beans, they say. Will do you some if interested. Bloom on bare wood, color unbelievable, see below...
Delph,
It looks like we might have some of the same interests in plants. I like all that you've listed. Now I need to find a way to beef your end of the trade up to your size so it's comprable. Regarding the "super sized" plants, do you ever attend any of the RUs? Maybe we can just complete our trades there to avoid shipping charges. Of course, it wouldn't hurt to figure out how much shipping might be incase we decide to go ahead and do it as soon as they root. I will have other things to offer too so I'll make sure to let you know what I have as I see roots.
BTW
The Duranta, P. "Elizabeth" and Allamanda cathartica "Cherries Jubilee are yours as soon as the "Cherries Jubilee" is rooted for sure. The batface was a no go'er. Not sure what I did wrong. I'll have to try again soon.
Edited to say;
Yes, I would definately be interested in the seeds from your neighbors trees.

Hugo I have some of the pink trumpet tree sprouted and will bring some in the morning to you
Looks like I will have to start planning on that October roundup! At least its at a park so the kids will have something to do while we talk plants. And dh sorta owes me one b/c we skipped the rock and mineral show in Gulfport b/c it was on Father's Day. I'll start potting up the big stuff -good thing we drive an Explorer!
Donna - you know I had a pink trumpet from a local nursery. Didn't even know what it was at the time - it grew for two years (bought it big) was about 10 feet tall, gorgeous, and then spring before last it simply failed to sprout out. Dead as a doornail. We had a freeze that year - upper 20's - are they really sensitive? Even the roots were dead though! It was weird.
I think I killed the mandy cuttings
How is the best way to root them, and which part of the plant should the cutting come from???
Note to all waiting on your plants;
I was going to send these out on July 14th but something came up. I could send them out today (July 15th) but only if you think that they will make it to you by Saturday. These are the people who's packages I was going to send today;
Eyesoftexas
Cattlady
Aknapp
I'll keep an eye on this thread to see if it's okay with you for me to send today. I will only send them out now if you insist. Otherwise I will wait til Monday.
Crestedchik,
I use the green wood. Not the tender tips at the top but futher down. I make sure to leave two nodes. One with no leaves and the higher of the nodes with only one leaf. Good luck.
Delph,
I didn't know you were into roses. I would like to start with roses but I don't even know where to start. Maybe you can help me. I would love some cuttings if you're still trying to stock up on rooted stuff for passi trades in the future.

Does anyone here have any oleanders besides variegated red, red, or white? I'm especially looking for any doubles and any peach or yellow. Another I am looking for is the super dark red one. It almost looks like a velvety maroon in color.
If you still have any allamanda or duranta, I'd love one. I have a dwarf canna, "Striped beauty" that I can send.
Bug I'm definitely not "into" roses - just grow a few here and there. Try to stick with the ones that don't get black spot too bad with all our rain. I used to spray but quit. I pretty much stick to Jackson and Perkins - can't beat the quality IMO and worth every penny. Gemini, Rio Samba, Margo Koster and Pat Austin have proved they can take it. Discount roses from walmart etc. just turn into a mass of yellow & black and die here. Rio is awesome - yellow/orange/red - looks great with trops, but its a grafted so no cuttings. Going to try first time to do cuttings of Pat and Margo - let ya know.
Re: beefing up - I've been bitten by the canna bug; can't believe it - always hated em. In love with the really dark leaved kind now after seeing thread http://davesgarden.com/t/442865/#new
Got any?
I got back by that red cestrum and managed to get up some nice suckers with roots, so its now shippable.
Right now I'm setting aside the following for you:
Chrysothemis Black Flamingo (you are so lucky I only have two cuttings of this! They have both rooted! Yippee!)
Tropicanna
Cinnamon ginger
Red cestrum
Black bambo
EE illustris
Piper Auritum (mama plant now up to four feet high and wide! People stop and ask what is that?)
Var.Jewels of Opar
These are all ready to go whenever you say. Just wanted to make a list so I wouldn't accidentally give them away to somebody else!
Future stuff:
tabubeia seeds
Medinilla seeds (the cutting died; Aloha says seeds are easy' got some forming now)
rose cuttings if they work
I've decided to let my side garden go all tropical; not great drainage, full sun, lot of water. Tired of fighting my zone. So looking for stuff to fill in with, like...
Dark leaf cannas
Pride of Barbados
Allamanda
mandevilla
costus or gingers that can take full sun (not sure there are any?)
passis of course for the ugly fence the neighbor put up
hibiscus esp turks cap, red disco belle, and orange/peach colors
I am so excited! One of my passi LL cutttings rooted! 1 out of 6 ain't bad considering I made them way too big and had no idea what I was doing. Already promised to somebody. Just did a dozen more - better luck this time I hope after reading your instructions.
diva, Sounds like you've been busy.....
Can you give me any pointers on rooting the Lady Margaret I have not been able to get this one to root...:-(
Would love to see your garden, sounds lovely
Thx, Carol
I would wait until the first of the week bug, no sense taking a chance.
thanks alice
I will get yours in the mail on Monday also.
dixiechick check out this thread: http://davesgarden.com/t/425157/
Spacecow,
I'll put some aside for you. Sorry about not getting back to you right away. We'll work out a trade once we get ready for shipping.
Delph,
I too am excited about what you've got going. I should be able to help you with the Pride of Barbados (I have both red and yellow), Allamanda cathartica 'Hendersoni'/'Cherries Jubilee'. I have the turks cap but have never taken cuttings from it. It's the one with the small red blooms though so I'm not sure if this is what you're looking for. Just say so if it is and I'll get to clipping cuttings. I have a double peach hibiscus that I took cuttings from if it interests you at all (I also have a single fire-engine red like color). The only disco belle that I have is the one I don't know the color of that you're welcome to. Actually, it has your name on it already so if your not interested in it just say so. Oh, and that fence, we'll have that covered with passion flowers yet. BTW- That canna photo that you posted a link to... I originally thought that was the nursery pot/container. That's the actual canna leaf. Wow what a color! Neat plant.
aknapp,
Monday it is. I'll send them out then.
Double peach H would be perfect; yes I am looking for turk's cap the little red one; and any disco belle is an asset! Gotta go research roses...
Hugo I have 2 of them 1 in a 5 gal pot(minus the pot) I can give to Liz. I don't need 2 of the same one and I tried to give it to Daisy and Nadine lol but they already had it. Wish I had known Liz I could have sent it with them.
When in doubt send it! That's Ok we'll do a big fat trade sometime.
I'm guessing that Liz = Delph. Am I correct? Donna, you have which plant in a 5 gallon container? Are you talking about the double peach hibiscus or are you talking about the turks cap? (Delph, whichever one it is she doesn't have, I'll get the other for you.)
I'll save your containers Donna. The ones that the trees that you gave me came in. I know how difficult your terrain is to garden in without containers (based on what you've told me).
Hugo I have an extra, small flower Turks cap for Liz. Great please save me any large containers you don't need. I am despreate. I have had to go buy 3 to 5 gal containers twice not and still not done. but I have a bunch of 1 gals if you need some and Trish brought me more when we met in Ala. lol. I'm going to Trish's next Saturday for the week end if daughter doesn't go into labor. Patiently waiting anyday now.
Everyone here should be taken care of except for Delp and Spacecow. Please let me know if I've missed someone.
The last of my end of the trades went out today. I hope everyone gets their stuff in good condition.
Hugo...........I'm leaving for San Diego on Thurs!!!
